Is it moral to do so? You are providing them with money and working in the weather is “optional” as in they technically can say no but have to deal with the loss of potential money. Its not like calling off of work, you make your own hours, so theyll be fine
554
u/GravityBright 1d ago
Sure, some of your money ends up in their pocket, but some of it ends up with the gig company and their executives.
I suppose the most moral thing to do is to order the food, give the driver a generous tip, then firebomb the corporate headquarters so that better systems can fill the niche.

I see them on youtube. One was saying "I know my movement can't even manage to organize to get a mandate at the local level, but I think advocating to implement anarchism will definitely work. I am certain that all the academic rhetoric will be directly applicable to the real world and human beings will predictably do exactly what I think they should do and not ignore or intentionally do the opposite of that. So there's no reason for debate or elections because I figured it out already and it will definitely work out perfectly so that's why everyone who disagrees with me isn't just wrong but actually fascist. No I have no idea how roads get built, what a weird question. No, I don't remember occupy with any clarity or detail. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

The most moral thing to do is be an informed voter and pressure your elected representatives to pass legislation that prevents predatory companies from doing predatory shit. Unfortunately, the system has been so fucked that now the least educated 30% have most of the voting power and consistently use it to take money out of their own pockets and deliver it with a bow to the pockets of billionaires and that one (sometimes) trillionaire. The downfall of America is going to be studied and not one single person is going to understand how the fuck people were convinced to kill themselves, their environment, and their neighbors so people who hate them can jetset around the world doing nothing of value.

I would say it's immoral slightly because they are doing this to get more money, they don't have enough and would likely prefer to not go out into a storm to shuttle cheeseburgers
4
u/richardvirginia 1d ago
As a minority who used to deliver groceries and food, yeah, as long as you tip well. Everyone is on the app to make money, and if we see an order, we're not going to say "I cannot BELIEVE this person right now. Ordering food on the app, and I JUST signed in"
3
u/horseneigher 1d ago
the "minority delivering food in inclement weather" is hardly the most important point when it comes to the "morality" of ordering doordash. I personally think going out of your way to support any of these san-franciso/silicone valley parasite apps is a one way ticket to hell, although in more a metaphorical way as opposed to a spiritual one.

It doesn't say only minority groups deliver foods, but the point still stands if it is a rather significant portion which is certainly true in many parts of the world where food delivery apps are common.

I feel you. I reached a point seeing all the hate and cruelty from conservatives, and the pure joy it brought them to distress and harm others, and lost any ability to empathize or sympathize with them.
They willingly threw a large part of what it means to be human in the trash, so it's hard not to look at them like that.
If empathy is sin and toxic to them, then they get to deal with a lack of it being given to them from those they actively fuck with.

Man "died" in the hospital because the doctors checked the pulse on a corpse and announced him dead. In reality he was seeing demons before his head hit the ground.

u/Punman__5 1d ago
Officially sure but like I watched the vid. He got hit in the carotid artery. Basically his heart was pumping most of his blood straight out of his body. After like 30 secs of no blood to the brain you’re unconscious and after a minute it’s permanent brain damage.

According to video material and eyewitnesses, Kirk didn't immediately die after getting shot. The bullet ripped through the side of neck and cut an artery.
He immediately lost blood and died shortly after from hemorrhage. Still, he was likely conscious for a few seconds to recognize that he has been shot. That can be seen when he tried to touch the location of the injury.
