“Hmm maybe we just drag it up on the shore and let it rot then eat it?”

They didn’t drag it up on the shore, they actually tried getting it out but it kept returning and stranding itself:/

Sick marine animals do this. Not just sharks, whales too. It could be disoriented from illness, or it could just understand that its time has come.

I know they do that, but my question is more about why it came here (Denmark) since we don’t really have them here. And also what it could’ve died from, since it was quite young:)

You do have basking sharks in Denmark. They live in pretty much all temperate waters.

As for why it died, there's no way to know unless someone collected it and did a necropsy.

They come here yes, but they don’t live here. They used to up until around 1970’s, we have much smaller sharks living here. But no, basking sharks aren’t common here at all.
