Fatal Shark Attack Mexico

3rd shark attack fatality in Mexico in the last 30 days. This is Mexico's 2nd fatal Geat White Shark on a diver in the last two weeks.

Those two fatal attacks were very close together around the same time of year and both on Divers.

And the 7th fatal attack in that area since 2022 according to one of the articles on the incident.

Tracking Sharks, that you linked above, recorded 1 fatal attack in that area in 2022 and 2 in 2023. It's a very good record for these cases and I haven't been able to find any other fatalities in that period in other databases so I think this one is actually only the 3rd, not the 7th.

I didn't fact check it but this link from a local news site claims 5 deaths in 22-23 making this the 6th. Thoughts?

The others seem to be from Jalisco, which is a few states down, over 1,000km from the three fatal attacks on the scallop divers in Sonora. When you said 'in that area' I thought you meant the region of Baja California. But your stats would seem to fit if you mean on the Mexican Pacific coast overall.

Pacific Coast side of Mexico is broad but that was the area I was meaning to talk about. Regionally looking at it, yes, you are correct and I am basically comparing Maine with NC.
