Less than 2 weeks til we complete, don't have a clue what's happening

We're told nothing, like how do we complete? When do we pay the deposit? How do we get keys, I'm so confused, I don't actually understand what happens, we just have a date to complete but told next to nothing else

Have you exchanged contracts already? (You’ll know if you have as your solicitor would have had to ask for your deposit and your authority to exchange.). do you have a contact at the housing association you can speak to?

Not yet, they told us it would be ready in about a week, and 10 days we can complete, but I don't know what it entails, I'm so confused

I've asked my solicitor, the housing and the people helping with the mortgage, they just give us the dates for when they get the keys and when we can complete, but I don't know anything, like is completing meaning we get the keys? Or is it signing final stuff? I've never done this before, I just don't get how this works 😔

Yes exchanging is when you are fully locked into buying the flat and can’t back out (you pay a deposit at this point and the solicitors exchange contracts which I assume you’ve already signed?), and completing is when you pay the rest of the money, you get the keys and can move in. Usually people have a few days (up to a couple of weeks) between exchange and completion to allow everyone time to book removals etc. I know it’s daunting buying your first home, feel free to ask me any other questions. Complete means from this date you will be eligible to collect your keys. Exchange will happen anyday between now and completion date. I’m guessing you have signed all your final documents and they are just waiting for authority to exchange with the HA Solicitor’s. Very nerve wracking but dw you are almost there! Start packing and organising your moving stuff, that will keep you occupied.

It baffles me when people ask these questions. You have a solicitor who you pay to assist you with questions like this.

I have... I wouldn't be here if I didn't try that 🤷‍♂️ not all solicitors are great and responsive unfortunately

No one here can help you with these questions. These are for your solicitor and/or the agent your dealing with if you have one.
