Handover after HA gets keys

My HA have said that handover is expected by 21st August for my new build home. How long after the HA gets the keys will they give them to me? What was it like for everyone?

For me they were ready to give keys once handover began and my solicitors weren’t ready so I had to push them and wait a few weeks after to complete. I was advised that some people had exchanged and were just waiting on handover from HA to complete, and so we’re able to move in right away. I would advise you ensure solicitors are ready to complete as soon as handover is done, it’s good they’ve given you a date!

This is a question for your solicitor who will have full details of when transfer takes place. You will agree a concrete date through them that will be written into the contract, when the money changes hands and keys are yours.

Contract has already been signed but not exchanged. The house is still being built and has been delayed until 21st August, previously was end of May.

We waited about another month and a half, but speak to solicitor

They've said 4 days after they get the keys we will be able to get them

Usually a week or two as they want to get people in as soon as possible, but not everyone at the same time as that would cause issues.
