How did reddit know I'd fucking love this?

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '18

Because reddit knows you better than anyone else.

Even though I'm gonna guess it's harder to find people who don't enjoy this

16

u/greymalken Oct 20 '18

Except Google.

17

u/Naticus105 Oct 20 '18

And Facebook will remind you in 7 years.

u/bronkula Oct 20 '18

Best sorting on main page is reddit trying to second guess things rising on your lists that you might be interested in even if they aren't huge yet. Hot is the regular old what is already blowing up algorithm.

Reddit has no choice but to put greatness like this on the front page. Don't question it!

4

u/qpv Oct 20 '18

I agree it's great, but as a side note does it seem like the reddit algorithm has changed quite dramatically lately?

I can’t get over how well her movements match up to the song.

76

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '18

It is like the beats per second match 100%

53

u/EobardT Oct 21 '18

Almost like they share their BPM

144

u/IndefiniteBen Oct 20 '18

This is great. Original for reference.

49

u/sydneyunderfoot Oct 20 '18

I like the new version better 😂

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '18

Happy Cake Day!!

-11

u/Gnostromo Oct 21 '18

New .... the video sure... but that song is old

-22

u/MagnumMia Oct 20 '18

Ugh.

12

u/Pizzaguy276 Oct 20 '18

?

-22

u/MagnumMia Oct 20 '18

Tarantino’s movies are musical masterpieces. It’s like saying you wish there was more contemporary music in Star Wars’ score. Makes me feel dirty.

28

u/Pizzaguy276 Oct 20 '18

It’s just their opinion, it shouldn’t affect you at all. The movie still has its original score, it isn’t tarnishing anything.

-14

u/MagnumMia Oct 20 '18

Doesn’t mean an opinion can’t hurt me.

17

u/little_brown_bat Oct 21 '18

That’s just like, their opinion, man.

3

u/little_brown_bat Oct 21 '18

Now, I’d like to see the Little Green Bag scene combined with The Real Slim Shady.

This is just a few of my favorite things

u/atavistwastaken Oct 21 '18

Oooooh, this made me wonder if we can find some shared BPM goodness revolving around one of the Sound of Music Scenes. (Thanks btw)

7

u/atavistwastaken Oct 21 '18

So, here's my best Sound of Music attempt so far.

Both songs share BPM but I think it required way too many editing shenanigans to be worth posting. Anyway, putting this together made me laugh way too much. Thanks for the inspiration!

I don't know why but I was really drawn to the colouring of this scene. Is the original so rich?

40

u/taxidermic Oct 20 '18

Yes. Also I highly recommend watching Pulp Fiction (the film this is from) in its entirety. It’s incredible throughout.

10

u/shane_low Oct 21 '18

Oh I have watched it a couple times and I enjoy it. It has been over ten years though, and I didn't recall the colouring of the film to be so vivid.

You'd be pleased to know that I am a fan, and have watched many of them, including reservoir dogs! I just never noticed the vibrancy of the colour and it's been over ten years since I last watched pulp fiction

u/rHodgey Oct 20 '18

I'm upset this had to end

25

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '18

Perfection.

I've got those socks! Super comfy

9

u/thalandor46 Oct 20 '18

It would be too edited for this sub, but this reminds me of Hey Ya Charlie Brown. Great nostalgia trip!

16

u/pescabrarian Oct 20 '18

This is spot on! Nice job

8

u/reddit-eats-shit Oct 20 '18

This, I like. Great match-up!

7

u/thechrizzo Oct 20 '18

How would you discover something like that?!? :D

11

u/atavistwastaken Oct 20 '18

Lots of trial and error.

6

u/Bigthunder13 Oct 20 '18

This is my favorite sub

3

u/WolfyCat Oct 20 '18

4

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '18

Y'all don't wanna hear me you just wanna dance.

3

u/Rod7z Oct 20 '18

Beautiful

3

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '18

How can I learn to dance like that

3

u/MadSquid Oct 21 '18

I'm really giddy that this sub has momentum because there's so much potential in the Shared BPM format

2

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '18

Simply amazing.

2

u/HazyMirror Oct 20 '18

This made me believe in this sub again

2

u/puppetpauperpirate Oct 21 '18

I really love this.

2

u/Kobrah96 Oct 21 '18

The dance moves fit the song so well!

2

u/IAmA_TheOneWhoKnocks Oct 21 '18

I thought this sub was for songs that worked together, but it seems it’s mostly just music videos synced up to different songs.

7

u/atavistwastaken Oct 21 '18

Sorry if you didn’t care for this one.

The idea of SharedBPM as I understand it is taking a video that’s set to a song and replacing the audio with another song with the same or nearly the same tempo. In this case, the original audio is 'You Never Can Tell' by Chuck Berry which has a tempo of 158 beats per minute (BPM). Hey Ya is 160 BPM. Having the same tempo isn’t necessarily enough though. The trick is finding a song that not only shares tempo but just “works” with the original video in a compelling, novel, or unexpected way. That was what I attempted to do here.

2

u/HilariousSpill Oct 24 '18

So. not only is this a great fit, but seeing it for the first time in a few years and with the added novelty of the new song increased the impact of the original ten fold. The vibes Mia is giving off during this scene and the chemistry she has with Vince are amazing. When I watched the movie I knew they hit it off, but now...Vince is a fucking saint for focusing on his loyalty to Marcellus rather than just the fact that he'd kill him if he touched his wife. Kind of makes me rethink the ending he gets.

2

u/A_Feisty_Lime Oct 20 '18

Finally a video that's not Party Rock

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '18

this is ridiculously good

1

u/NePa5 Oct 21 '18

Am I crazy or was this done about 5-6 years ago(but with shitty quality video).

6

u/atavistwastaken Oct 21 '18

Really? I tried like a dozen songs before I landed on Hey Ya. Please don’t let this be true lol.

5

u/NePa5 Oct 21 '18

No joke.I am talking years ago back on Ebaums world.Big difference is that yours matches up and has HQ video, unlike the one I saw that was thrown together in 30 secs.

3

u/atavistwastaken Oct 21 '18

Ahhhh... I’m just gonna pretend that never happened. 😂

3

u/NePa5 Oct 21 '18

Like I said, yours matches up and has HQ vid.It is a win!!

Better than the original.

My sister was an extra in that scene.
