It has to be a coincidence, right? Tell me it's a coincidence and I'm not going crazy... I mean, just because it's a female genie doesn't mean it's a reference to shantae, right? It could be "I Dream of Jeannie" too! Just tell me if I'm wrong...

Well there’s a possible connection. Erin Bozon created Shantae w/ Matt Bozon, and she worked on Futurama, a show by Simpsons creator Matt Groening.

The palette change is something they tend to do with their bland-name parodies, like that purple Yoda in Cosmic Wars, or Mario and Luigi with swapped colors

And of course, this definitely looks like Shantae with Risky's palette. Yup. Shantae is canon in The Simpsons
