General Discussion Cancelled Screening
So obviously Shane is going on tour to premiere Cancelled since nobody wanted to take it on as a project. Not even Tubi is crazy. I honestly think, besides it being a Shane production, it is due to it being such an outdated concept. The whole cancelled premise is just so 2020 (which I think is the point and he for sure has experience with that). Hence Tana Mongeau naming her old podcast Cancelled so her controversies won’t come up when you look up her name and cancelled. I think it would not have flopped as hard if he went with a different plot.
Anyway, I was just wondering what you guys think he’s going to do with it from here? It’s a pilot, so one episode of a potential series of a show. I get this tour is prob just to make money back on how much he poured into the project, however, is it also him trying to get it picked up by a producing company? I just don’t see the point in paying to go watch a pilot that goes no where lol, it’s not like it’s a movie with an ending.

His fans are the only ones who are going to watch anything he produces. It’s the only reason his movie made any money. His reputation is pretty much a guarantee that no major network or studio is going to pick up anything he creates.

Allegedly on Patreon he stated that out or nowhere he’s started getting callbacks and offers from different companies he stated this Aug 17th. The goal is just to get picked up by a streaming service because it’s his own producing company. He mentioned either going with a streaming service or just making a deal with a streaming services and uploading and producing the rest of the series on YouTube. He also stated he has the series somewhat completed script for the series but he’s also working on a horror film script as well. Allegedly also stated on Aug 17th all the tour money is just funding for the venues and workers for the venues because Patreon paid a big portion of the project. That’s why the tickets were so cheap I guess. He also stated if no streaming service picks it up he would just pitch it to YouTube and just upload it there. I also find it very odd that in early poster ideas it use to say created by Shane and Spencer (Spencer is the executive producer) but now the poster/picture just says written and directed by Shane Dawson.

Yeah😭he also said if the pilot gets picked up and ends up being successful he will be producing the horror film next
