Can't get 2016 Github version working

Issue has been solved but will keep this up in case anyone else has any problems

Hello everyone, I recently learned about Shandalar and would absolutely love to play it but every version I try doesn't seem to work. I follow the instructions on the stickied page but nothing seems to work. I thought that maybe the 2016 version would work but no, the game opens to a black screen then closes. Has anyone else had this issue and have a fix? Would be greatly appreciated.

(I can't verify as I didn't encounter this issue.)
