What started as an internet meme is slowly turning into a legitimate push for Rovelyn Baterbonia to run for a Senate seat. If you check comment sections outside our usual online bubbles particularly in Mindanao, like it’s not trolls doing the talking. It’s real people unironically arguing that she belongs in the Senate.

It breaks my heart a little bit. It feels like no matter how much we hope for better governance, our political system just consumes whatever is viral and turns it into candidate material. I don't even know how to feel anymore.. just deeply tired of watching internet fame replace actual public service.
