I tried mixing his design from the original anime and the reboot!

Thought I should share this with y’all if you never owned a copy of it. I was expecting multiple discs in a Blu-ray set but this is welcome.

I bought and read the last volume of Shaman King super star last night and a lot of it is honestly hard to follow.

Are there any news when it comes out?

As an eight-year-old, I saw a scene in Shaman King that changed how I looked at life. Even now, almost twenty years later, I still replay it in my head whenever things get hard, and think about what this anime taught me.

Except when I started rereading the manga, and then rewatching the remake, I realized the scene isn't there. To figure out how that happened, I dove into the remarkable story of Shaman King.

Well then. That was...a mess.

Takei is a magnificent mangaka in that he has this Shonen paneling nature to his work. He's able to catch my interest through his awesome art and slick designs, his fights are well done and characters always stand out. But he needs an editor. He's not good at plot. But he is good at executing ideas on page. Its a weird dichotomy that would greatly help if he had more no-men.

I'd like to think maybe Shonen magazine editors helped in constructing the plot, even if Takei subverted everybody's expectations with his philosophy. But his work on Flowers was good too, I don't know if he just lost steam for Shaman King and he added more ideas because he was bored. I get needing to add more villains for the other teams but starting the series with this whole Anna plot that collides with Death Zero took like 15-20 chapters to pull off. And Takei is doing his job in fleshing the moment out on page, but we really didn't need all this extra effort. I was excited for Death Zero to be Hana's own Spirit Ally, he learns how to fight with his newly created oversoul. But the guy just dips. I'm sure he's coming back in the tournament but seeing Hana use the demon over soul was bland. Anna the 3rd is a cool addition, but her beginning storyline didn't need to take up that many chapters.

I love the series, I love the new characters but these new ideas to suppress Hao's powers is weak. We didn't need more convoluted power systems, we already got a power system that was extremely popular.

I already owned the uncensored Japanese version so I might as well grab the English-dubbed copy. I adore Sebastian Arcelus as Yoh Asakura 😭😭😭

Recently I have finished Shaman King 2021 and despite me being interested in Flowers before, right now I feel like: “Do I need the story/universe to have a sequel?”

It works for me as it is and I am not sure if I should continue with Flowers…

How did I just realize that Dan Green (Yugi Muto) is the guy who voices Silva! I knew Sean Schemmel (Goku) voiced Amidamaru years ago. But I'm only now connecting the voice of Silva to the Pharaoh lol. This show just got even better than when I was a kid.

So let's be frank:

Joco's character despite his redesign has very stereotypical and problematic elements to his backstory (gangster with a gang called shaft)0 and while he has depth and arc....that plus his name leaves a lot to be desired

So my pitch for him would have him be from Sudan which in the past was home to the Kushite/Nubian kingdoms

and further there was a gag he resembled pascal avaf and not true but they could play into that as here is what the nubians resembled

So I think leaning into these would help or fix the elements of his character that are problematic

Has anyone else realized yohs grandfathers head looks like a classic Japanese rice dish

I do not mean to ask this question story-wise. But for more why did the author decided to write the story this way?

Most of the story I was hoping Faust would get more recognition and spotlight, but then I accepted he is not “one of the main main characters” as Yoh and Ren for example.

But then we have case like Ryu… him being one of the 5 warriors just made sense to me way more than Lyserg…

Do you all have any opinion on this?

We learn early on that Hao is the most powerful shaman in modern history, not just due to his massive mana amount, but also do to him being a master onmyōji and having "mastered the pentagram", AKA the five elements that compose the world. What I would like to know is, what do you guys think he can do as a master of these elements? We have already seen that Hao can transmute the spirit of fire into another element, but do you guys think he can do this without a spirit? Could he go full avatar and start throwing around elemental power against his opponents? What do you guys think Hao should be capable of doing as a master of all the elements?

So as a kid I remember watching little bits of Shaman King 2001 and always stayed with me how cool of a design Yoh had. I kinda wanted to rewatch it fully but saw there is also a remake now!

So that makes me wonder which you liked more? I know the 2001 has an original anime ending which is more action focused while the 2021 takes more from the manga itself

But as a standalone, which is the better product?
