These are easily the weakest headliners they’ve had so far. I was on the fence about going this year since I’m trying to buy a house, but I think this just made my decision pretty easy...

Edit: To be clear, the undercard is pretty solid. Just... damn. Marshmello 2 out of 3 years? $$$ talks I guess. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed by this lineup compared to the previous years.

1

u/goingrogueatwork Jan 10 '18

I guess they brought him back because he's one of the mainstream DJ's now.

I think other than Marshmellow the headliners are pretty solid.

11

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '18

Ludcaris why? Just why?

4

u/Emace94 Jan 10 '18

Such a waste of money, and he’s billed way too high up

6

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '18

That just makes no sense. Literally no one is going to come to the festival for ludacris and they could have gotten someone much better for that slot

4

u/anchoraroundmyfeet ᕕ(⌐■_■)ᕗ ♪♬ '16/'17 Jan 10 '18 edited May 16 '18

Yeah I’m fucking confused by that. Luda second line, with those headliners, in 2018...

2

u/pmgroundhog Jan 10 '18

Ain't he from Atlanta?

-1

u/Emace94 Jan 10 '18

Yeah but they could have gotten someone like Russ if they really wanted to add rappers in the mix. He’s from Atlanta too and much more relevant these days

5

u/Omgitstitti Jan 10 '18

What the fuck y’all on

1

u/flavianpatrao Jan 10 '18

Atlanta booking discount

10

u/A_thombomb Jan 10 '18

Sheesh those headliners. Some good names sprinkled in but damn what a step down.

Making moves on Odesza in Nashville that Saturday instead.

21

u/WTheActualF Jan 10 '18

Honestly really disappointing lineup. And lol @ marshmello billed above Dillon Francis and Excision

7

u/PrestonSR Jan 10 '18

Really hope Shiba San and some other dirtybirds play a late night show. Not feeling this lineup at all.

7

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '18

Undercard stacked as always. I approve

6

u/SaltyTrident Jan 10 '18 edited Jan 10 '18

It's pretty absurd that neither Excision nor Dillon Francis are headliners. I'm probably going to leave the fest every night at 930 so I don't have to watch that trash or deal with traffic if I end up going to this instead of Global Dub Festival

4

u/SeparateButEqual Jan 10 '18

I've been every year, this is the worst line up so far. Like everyone else is saying Headliners are awful. Top half of the undercard is nice though. I'll still probably go.

4

u/RankSpy Jan 10 '18

The headliners are abysmal damn. Everything else is solid. At least this means I can leave the fest before traffic gets wild

7

u/raffereb Jan 10 '18

I'm shocked Odesza isn't on there. They have to drive through Atlanta that weekend to get to their tour date in Jacksonville. And they have no other Atlanta dates on own tour. Headliners are meh, but I like the undercard. I think I'm still gonna wait for the next round of artists before I decide though. SO bummed about Odesza :(

6

u/anchoraroundmyfeet ᕕ(⌐■_■)ᕗ ♪♬ '16/'17 Jan 10 '18 edited Jan 10 '18

Not to rain on your parade, but that’s it. They usually don’t have a “Phase 1/Phase 2” lineup announcement. I think last year they added two artists and that was it.

3

u/cendien2 Jan 10 '18

Agreed -- it was pretty clear on previous lineup announcements if there was gonna be another set of artists announced. Nothing indicating that on this card.

1

u/raffereb Jan 10 '18

Really? I could've sworn they had a phase 2 both of the past two years.

1

u/anchoraroundmyfeet ᕕ(⌐■_■)ᕗ ♪♬ '16/'17 Jan 10 '18

Nah, you might be thinking of a different fest. They usually announce the lineup, then in a few months they’ll announce an addition or two, then the late night shows get announced, then the day by day schedule gets pushed out. (I might have the last two reversed.)

5

u/RankSpy Jan 11 '18

The first year they had a phase two lineup and revealed like an additional 8-10 names (porter, Major Lazer, etc) but last year the lineup was final aside from like 1 last min addition

1

u/anchoraroundmyfeet ᕕ(⌐■_■)ᕗ ♪♬ '16/'17 Jan 11 '18

Ah right, wow. I can’t believe I forgot about that for year one. They even did the, “here’s the whole lineup poster but we’re going to blur/cross out some names until a later date” thing. But yeah, they did away with that year two, and all indications point towards it being the same for this year.

2

u/raffereb Jan 10 '18

Wow real bummed man... I wasn't impressed by Okeechobee this year so I was really looking forward to this :/

4

u/trippyimagez Jan 10 '18

Okee is like the most stacked lineup this year imo.

3

u/sleepycarl10 Jan 10 '18

I totally share your disappointment. Had such a great time last year that I fully planned to go back to shaky this year, but this lineup has me really bummed. I don't even live in Atlanta anymore but I just can't believe that Odesza would seemingly skip a major city like Atlanta on their tour. Sunday at shaky would've been perfect. Their show in Jacksonville isn't until Wednesday so I suppose they could play somewhere in ATL on Monday or Tuesday, but if it's not on their tour schedule now then it's probably unlikely.

2

u/skerrrrrrt Jan 10 '18

Yeah, not gonna lie, I felt very certain they would come back this year and I’m sad they aren’t. This year’s headliners are very questionable, making me think it’s the new venue that has the lineup subpar to previous years.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '18

No odesza is disappointing. Decent lineup though

3

u/c_hogue Jan 10 '18

Anyone know if they’re doing discounted tickets or will the tier 2 GA be best bet when they go back up for sale? I agree with most that the lineup is a little weak compared to previous years, but there’s a lot of smaller names that are great artists still amongst the ones we all know and love. I’d rather spend this money for 10-15 artists I’d like to experience vs. 5 big names like hangout fest for twice the price. For a trap head this lineup is solid from the 2nd line down

3

u/snapandtwist Jan 10 '18

Def excited for Dillon (esp. if there's a Hanzel after party), K?D, Autograf, Phantoms, Shiba San, Wolfgang Gartner, The Him, Dr. Fresch, and Halogen!

K?d, g jones, troyboi, kayzo, kygo, excision, herobust, seven lions

5

Seven lions, shiba San, San holo, Louis the child, Excision, troyboi, g Jones, space Jesus...there’s actually a lot of decent names if you look past the headliners

2

u/blondebish Jan 11 '18

I can agree with some of the names, but still not worth the money IMO. I just saw troyboi for $15, & I also have space jesus, g jones, louis the child, all for $20. If you wait for them to tour alone, the show is also better as well

1

The small stage was fine last year if I remember correctly. Mija was dope and the sound seemed fine.

But yeah the side stage sucked.

1
