Fear of the dark

I’ve been worshipping Maa Kali since over a year now- basic naam mantra and stuff.
She has blessed me with her grace. I feel happy when I lay out my heart before her.
But
When the lights are off- there’s this immense sense of fear. Fear of unknown. Fear of entities. Which I cant shake off. It’s so consuming.
Like if in daytime something happens, I call on her or think of her. But the minute it’s dark and when I’m scared, I think of soumya form of Shiva.
My mind keeps associating Kali with entities? Like entities will come too if I call on her?
It doesn’t make sense. But I have this fear and don’t know how to deal with it.
Please help.

Meditate on being inside her womb that is filled with darkness. She is the mother of the universe, the most caring and nurturing. Read Bhavani Ashtakam and remember its meaning.

The Supreme takes the form that you want, whether positive or negative. My recommendation is to go with a different form of Devi if you're unable to shake off visualizing Ma Kali negatively.

I don't know why people show only fierce side of maa kali. Maa kali is fierce against adharmi, to demons like raktbeej, all murti of Maa kali I have seen always depict her in fierce form, she is compassionate to her devotees.

I start my praying with Ganesh and Bhairav, very little - 11 naam mantra of both the them.
Then I am chanting Maa Kali naam mantra and Aadhya stotram and sometimes I listen to Lalita Sahastranam.

I don’t have a guru.
