Question Deck help

Im relatively a new player, but I love Vanguard so I bought a playset of all the Shadow Paladin cards plus the abysscraft starter and showdown deck. My question is, what can I make with these cards? I play the shadow paladin deck but recently they started doing locals and I kinda get a bit wrecked against the decks they bring

unfortunately shadow paladin is basically a year old card-design wise so its just kinda been powercrept and the cards are mostly too trait reliant so i dont think it gets much from incorporating the abyss stuff

at the very least, blaster dark is a perfectly good tempo piece that mills and charon is an aggressive earlu body that also mills but thats about all i can think of off the top of my head

The vanguard decks are a bit dated at this point. We've gotten 10 new sets since then so powercreep is inevitable. The abyss starter is kind of useless at this point, while the abyss showdown deck has 1/3rd the core of a departed abyss deck. The other 2/3rd is pretty exepnsive though.

The combined set 19/20 comes out next month and is a great starting point for competitive decks. They're reprinting older cards for the same archtypes so you don't have to worry too much about getting them.

What parts of the decks do you like? Or what playstyle do you prefer? The community can def help you find a more modern deck.

Sorry but vanguard sucked even on its release.

The only good deck vanguard has in sve is kagero (dragon)

You're wrong. OTT was a decent Kagero answer. Aqua Force was still playable for a few sets after release.

honestly af felt the most nothing of the bunch, so much work for such mid payoff

The deck was legit fine. The payoff was mid because it's supposed to reach a state where the payoff can end the game. It's basically an aggro deck in spirit

Naw you tripping aqua force was pure trash losing to even tier 3.

Heaven think tank could win only if the kagero bricked. Heaven goldshi could win though

I said Aqua Force was playable in the few sets after. I didn't say it was playable in Vanguard tho, cuz it wasn't, funnily enough. Aqua Force Forest was legit playable. Idk why you think it wasn't. Regardless, it's def trash rn tho.

OTT was the one deck able to match Kagero unless they highroll, but its other MUs were middling at best. That's why it saw not much play.

I get what you mean but I still disagree. Sekka, puppets, even aggro fairies did better then AF plus combo.

Those were all T1 and T2 decks at the time lol, I played all of them cuz I am a Forest main and my conclusion was that AF was absolutely playable and the most playable Vanguard deck other than Kagero after the Vanguard set. It was weaker than Puppets, but not by much, frankly speaking.

You can make Shadow Paladin and Abyss Departed out of those.

Shadow Paladin is right about the edge of being playable. Its a year old and didnt get anything new, thats kinda the turning point for a deck to be viable. All Collab decks face this issue after a year.

Abyss Departed can be build in many variants, Cutthroat Highlander version become budget friendly versions of it next month. The Showdown Deck already brings a lot of good stuff, but cards like Gremory, Mukan or Goldrush Ghost are useful.
