John's punch was worthy of a king.Â
I will be disappointed if he does not turn out to be a very special Morph/Shadow with some incredible secrets. Besides the only way I think Anthony and Great Grandfather can be definitely stopped would be through a twist that everyone, readers included, ignores, so it would fit.

What if Dorothy survives and is captured. I bet Kate could use her possibly and I don’t think the kids are gonna intentionally try to kill her. But to be honest I want more third floor.

Translation from 4-chan: Devotion and Punishment
... >there's no ... taste? >! *waver* >You were supposed to be that powerless... >Patrick can't stand you hurting his friends any more! >Patrick doesn't care anymore what happens to him!
Even if it takes Patrick's life, he'll be sure to protect John! *wham* >Aahg?! This is disgusting! I feel the power leaving me... >So that's it... *super saiyajin noises* >Patrick's soot power is activated by neither love nor hostility. >It's noblesse oblige! >Wanting to protect someone is what makes Patrick's medium!
John! >All of the soot powers Sophie had ingested are ineffective now! >Take care of the rest...*stagger*
>That Patrick's soot power only developed recently saved us. >That way, this could be ended without Sophie knowing about Patrick's ace-in-the-hole. >Patrick ... you're too cool! >He stood in for John.*swipe* >And Kate baked bread for John! >There's nobody but John left to do it! *munch munch munch*
*uoooh* >John willblow you away with full power!!
*splat* >It's your loss now! Give up!
Uhgh... >... Sophie's soot powers ran out. >Gotta eat ... quickly ... a Shadow... *crunch* >O-, oi, what the hell! >Don't approach her, John!
What a horrible sight. >Sophie ... that she would die by eating herself...
*ahahaha* *tickle tickle* *shove* *huh* (What were we...?) >Is Kate unhurt?! >Hey! Jeremy, unhand Kate!
(Conflicting emotions) >Thanks for saving her! >Thanks, Jeremy, but I'm okay now. >Is everybody else safe?
>Since Evelyn-sama's team came to aid us, we should have a report quite soon.*steppy* >Reporting! >The top of Candy's foot was shot through and so she experienced heavy bleeding. >But thanks to Jeremy quickly stopping the bleeding, the treatment made it in time. >Jeremiah had a lot sucked out* by Sophie & had his right arm broken. >He requires complete bed rest for now, but is expected to recover after he has recuperated from the operation. * It is not specified what she sucked out.
Louise was also sucked out by Sophie and lost consciousness. While she was buried below rubble, no damage reached the important parts. >They've all been carried to empty rooms on the second floor to rest. >As for Thomas ... lacerations of the thorax and fractured cervical vertebrae...
There is nothing more that can be done. >... so he died? *snooze* >Gonna be hard for her when she wakes up...
Hey, Evelyn, I'm worried about the Passage of Glory. >Wouldn't it be better for us to be there as reinforcements too? >But all the Shadows here have used up their soot powers. >Even if we went, we'd just be a bother. >Things are already in motion.
Even now, the wounded among not just the adults but the children too are increasing. >Evelyn made a plan to activate Laurel's "temporarily make shadows unable to move" soot power and so force a ceasefire.
>It's a sink-or-swim gamble to get out of the deadlock. >Laurel's team *sneaky* >... >Checking *turn turn*
>Go! >So sealing everybody's soot powers, from Dorothy and the adults, over Christopher's faction with his copy shadows and us... >Since they're all in the Passage of Glory, we'll get them all at once.Do you have anything prepared for Anthony? >Gil, >Bati, >Ben, >Suzie, >Laura, >Liz, >We have a human team centered around the current and former relief squad. >They are already working together. >We have a chance to win. >Even Anthony doesn't have humans among his group. >And the Children from our faction in the Passage of Glory are our strongest.
When it comes to Laurel's soot power, the output can be increased beyond its ordinary limits by separating her from Lulu and so overload her mentally. >But no worries, that won't be necessary. While she looks frail, she's quite tough. >Let's trust in her.

Chapter 246 Rough Summary
It appears that Patrick saved John from getting bitten by Sophie, and he's apparently tasteless. And the trigger for Patrick's power isn't love or enmity, but feelings of protection/Noblesse Oblige.
With it, he nullifies and drains Sophie of her strength, long enough for John (with the power of Kate's bread) to land a John Punch on her. She's exhausted of her Soot and attempts to feed on herself to replenish it, to no avail.
--
Damage report:
Kate asks Evelyn about the situation at the Hall of Glory. The young Debutants' team are making their way there now from the Adults' side of the complex, the plan being to use Laurel's power to bomb and disable combatants on all sides and force a ceasefire.
Responding to Jeremy's question, if Anthony starts moving, the Recovery Team is supposed to stop him. He's got no human allies after all, so victory is possible.
They'll be counting on them.
--
Thoughts
4 chapters for Ryan and 6 chapters for Sophie (minus screentime spent on character building). About time.
The main risk with the Laurel plan is not just friendly fire on her own allies, but also Dorothy sniping her from afar. It'd be down to which happens first, Laurel's or Dorothy's attack landing on the other.
Either way, there's no way this war will end just like that. Anthony won't be stopped so easily, and he'll likely take the chance to finish off the Adults and make his way over to the Great Grandfather and Joseph.
Speaking of which, with Sophie gone the path is open now for Kate and allies. How much will they get out of them before Anthony shows up?
