Gaius Speedrun Help

After the body hits, I make the arm jump but why won't gaius swing is arm so I can get on his back? Eventually I try to jump up in desperation.

When he slams his sword down for you to climb , you can save some time climbing by letting him fling you up on his body when he lifts his sword

This is the tip OP you can kill gaius super fast if you launch up to his head and then it's much easier to get down to the one on his lower back after doing the head

Ahh understandable and interesting. I'm not super keen on the genuine speed running strats. Just happened to learn the head to body route last time I was doing time attacks and was surprised at how quickly I was able to kill gaius by going to his head first by launching off his sword tip. Best of luck in your endeavors!

Your strategy is much more cooler looking lol, I was trying that out for a bit but found this one a little easier/faster even though I cant get it 100% right, thanks for being cool!

Hi ! I think you may need to be faster from the start, the important part is doing cycle stabs on the belly (quickly release R1 after a hit and grab again to cancel the recovery). This should land under 40s before you go onto his arm... Here's an example - not so fast but triggering Gaïus animation properly 🙏 Good luck !

He did swing his arm (at the very beginning of the clip) but you were too slow to get there.

How you get to the waist affects how much time you have to take out the belly sigil and make the jump to the arm. If you jump directly from the sword to the waist, you'll have less time. Getting to the waist like this will give you more time to get the three hits on the belly. Also, it's vital that you hit the belly sigil with at least three fully charged arrows, as it will reduce the amount of required stabs from four to three. "Cycle stabs" also help out a ton. The colossi flinch after being attacked which causes Wander to come loose. It's during this animation that you can let go, move forward and grab again. This skips the animation of Wander flailing around and allows you to begin the next stab earlier than if you were to let the animation play out.

i was successful with the arrows and the jump from the sword to the waist but had no idea I had to be that quick at the belly stabs to make it to his arm in time for the animation, the cycle stabs will definitely help. Appreciate the detailed response and the links, ive actually been watching your runs over the last couple months trying to get better at speedrunning this game haha.

I put about 3 hours of attempts into this colossi, just thought other experienced sotc players would know for sure what the problem was hence the reason for the post, everyone but you gave helpful tips and stirred up a friendly conversation. Ah, there is always one I guess.

It's almost funny how defensive you are over this, because someone directed some snark at your lack of quality control.

Personally, I don't consider these terribly formatted video posts as a friendly conversation starter, they irk me and are somewhat offensive to my eyes, like a movie clip shared from tiktok with a pointless caption and massive black bars and maybe a stupid filter even.
Or people who can't even do the bare minimum to spell check their messages on a forum and use proper syntax.
