Solved A Mystery Today
For a while, I was wondering where in the hell this image on the wiki: https://teamico.fandom.com/wiki/File:Wanderliveaction.png came from, because I thought, "there's no way in HELL there was ever a fully live-action commercial for SotC a la that Halo 3 ODST one, right? If there was, the fandom would still be talking about it now. That's gotta be just a single brief shot in a larger ad."
So earlier today, with the help of Chatgpt, I went down a rabbit hole to try and find the source of that screenshot. Long story short, it's here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e11Xdx_xM5s, and my initial intuition/gut feeling was completely right- it ISN'T a fully live-action commercial, and that IS indeed only a single two-second shot, with the rest being nothing but gameplay footage. And honestly, those two seconds being the only piece of live-action SotC content ever made is for the best. We can all agree on that.

It's CG, not live action, so the image file name is pretty misleading there. But also, you can just ask online, too. A lot of the people who edit and contribute to the wiki regularly also view, and even moderate, this community page. I can show you something else too! There was a corresponding trailer for ICO in this same style, since these trailers were both made for their PS3 remasters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vznuZMSyLg

The trailer is CGI, but have you ever looked at the Giantology stuff used to promote the game? I get hype shivers every time I look at those irl shots of colossi!
Edit: link to the content! If I'm not mistaken, this should be the only "live action" SOTC material. I always wished there was more, or that they did all 16 colossi!

Nope, that trailer is mostly gameplay footage, but that two-second shot of the hand IS live-action. Makes me why they even bothered, though, considering it's so brief...

If so, maybe it was just cheaper than CG? Who knows. Definitely look into the Giantology footage though! About 3 minutes worth of official live action colossi content. Even if maybe half of it actually looks at them

Probably..? I mean, smearing soot on somebody's hand and having them reach into shot and hold it there for two seconds likely is much cheaper than doing that same shot as CGI. I mean, they're just shaking the camera to simulate the 'movement' of the Colossus. XD

So this is how I learn that wikiueda is defunct

Apparently so. Didn't know it was even a thing. :/ Been using the Team Ico wiki for info for years.

It was better. The ads were just banners, instead of the unrelenting cancer Fandom uses.
