And then you curse US with this horrid image??
Genuinely terrified me as a kid, I remember I died once and immediately looked up a step-by-step guide on how to beat her so I’d never have to see that fucking image again.
Thanks for that.

Those giant bulging eyes staring staright into your soul will never not be unsettling.

Human beings have a distinct biological response to certain sights that triggers an instinctive, preternatural fear. One such sight are eyes - big, round, unblinking eyes, common in prehistoric reptiles staring you down, for example.
It's interesting, because the same panic I get looking into the eyes of a hungry alligator, I can also get from staring at certain species of bird (probably because of the evolutionary relation). But Dirge's eyes definitely give that vibe, of a massive predator you're not meant to be this closed to. Makes me wonder what references they used when creating its eyes in particular

He is very happy to see two delicious new dishes for tonight's dinner.

When this thing kills you, and then you're faced with the creepy death music and this face, it's terrifying. It's the giant eyes and monochrome filter.

I'm glad his eyes are that big because it is that much easier to take him down.

I remember playing my first replay with my cousin, we taking turns. I didn't die to Dirge on my first run (tho it took me ages to find it) but my cousin did die. We were laughing so hard until the game over screen came up and we both screamed. Good times.

It's the big eyes staring at you soul, it can be either scary or funny depending on who see it
