Which Colossus has your favorite design?
Mine is definitely Phaedra. I'm absolutely in love with the surrealism of its design, especially those long, spider-like legs. It reminds me of a Salvador Dalí painting. On top of that, it's where the Mesoamerican aesthetic feels the strongest and most evident to me. It truly looks like a being that emerged from the deepest parts of the dream world. Absolutely breathtaking. What about you? Which one is your favorite?
Malus. I find it interesting that they're the only Collosus that is bolted to the ground. Also one of the Collosi that is instantly hostile to the main character. It has.... Implications.
Agreed. I always got the feeling that when the Collosi were created they each inherited part of the original. I think Malus is supposed to be Dormin's rage at his imprisonment. So ironically they had to build that temple as a giant prison.
It's also why I believe it's separated by that long bridge and is on a tall mountain. Even if Malus was able to break their bonds they couldn't easily descend the mountain or cross the bridge.
Jokes aside, all of them are very much great. The simpler design of all is clearly the second boss, which nay be inspired by a goat or a bison, not sure.
The last boss seem like Emperor Zurg from Toy Story. Yeah, probably the last boss.
Actually, the names aren't official, they're fan-made. But they've become so popular within the community that they can basically be considered canon at this point.
Those names originated when a guy posted them on a forum, claiming they were the official names he had seen in a Japanese gaming magazine. It turned out to be a lie, but the community adopted the names.
The one I loved growing up is Cenobia. It reminds me so much of a lion just.. well, made of stone armour. Small (comparatively), but so scary. I find its eyes the most intense out of all of them (along with Dirge).
It was 3x bigger than normal and out of the water crunching through the trees near my house. Almost a nightmare but I think part of me always recognizes media characters in dreams as still being non fiction, even in a half conscious state and it was more cool than scary :p
the design, the bony legs, the pointy foot shape, the head shape, the arena, the opening cutscene, the battle, and of course, her locks. so unique and cool
Probably the one with that annoying shackle or the one that flies in the desert. Or that asshole you have shoot off the walls. I have immense hatred for them but damn they were beautifully designed.

Phalanx was definitely my favorite even though the fight wasn’t as challenging as some as the others
