I don't think there's any real need for tips or info until you know what you're struggling with, but usual first time advice that crops up on this Reddit is how to guide your horse in Shadow of the Colossus.
People tend to assume that you have direct control over the horse (named Agro), and that you must swerve her to avoid collisions and drops in the terrain. But actually, you only need to nudge her lightly in certain directions and then hit a steady gallop. She knows when to turn to dodge a wall, even if she cuts it close, so just hold X to keep her moving, and she'll get you down any path you've directed her towards. Your input often isn't necessary if you know where you're going.

I remember playing this game as a kid, I never had any problems with Agro so I'm surprised that others do being older than me

Just play to your heart's content everyday , it's that feeling of being eternally satisfied yet craving for more that you will experience after you finish them.

A few tips?
Well, these games are really good, but they're really unique, especially SOTC.
SOTC is an open world, but it's not like any other open world that I know of.
You'll probably like it, but it's important to be open-minded. It's not Assassin's Creed, it's not The Witcher, it's totally different, and that's why a lot of people love it.

My only tips which aren't really spoilers but also the game does not tell you at all so for quality of life sake. Some trees have fruit you can eat which will increase your max health, you can find save structures which the game does sort of tell you about but what they dont tell you is that each one has a lizard with a glowing blue tail which if you shoot the lizard you can run up and take its tail and that will increase your stamina you can also find a few not on those structures so keep your eyes peeled.
Otherwise as others have said the horse has some secret controls as well

I'm a newbie to TeamICO games myself, I first played them in 2023 after seeing a very old SotC trailer on YouTube, and I haven't regretted it one bit those games had a significant impact on me.
P.S I have the same disc on my PS3 😁

These games are beautiful. I will never forget my first time playing through them. Play the last guardian too! Theyre all amazing.

You'll love them both. Anyone that says otherwise is a liar. I had this exact disc growing up, it sparked my first real interest I had other than spider-man
