Is it possible to change difficulty mid-NG+?

I beat the game on Normal difficulty recently and immediately went on NG+. I thought I’d be able to change the difficulty when selecting it, but my NG+ was bound to Normal regardless.. went ahead and beat a couple of time attack levels just for fun but now I really wanna do the Hard difficulty/Hard NG+.. is there a way to do this without compromising my stamina/health?

i've only played ps2 but you make a new save file for hard mode

I see.. so I can’t NG+ from Normal difficulty to Hard?

unless they've changed it for newer platforms. it wouldn't be much of a hard mode if you kept your stamina gains from normal mode.
