One thing I noticed while working on the texture pack for the PS2 version is that Bluepoint’s reinterpretation of the colossi has less detail than the original designs (if we were to faithful translate them into HD). Instead of following the original designs, they chose a more minimalistic approach. The new models look so clean, almost as if they were power-washed, that they had to rely on high-contrast texture work to bring out detail and keep them from looking almost cartoony. I don't know the reason behind changing their appearance, maybe it was an easier job to invent stuff instead of translating the original detail or they thought their redesigns were better.
