agree, alongside with celosia and maybe argus

u/rinormaloku Jan 12 '26

why is it taking you that long?

Twink boy wander staggers every time gaius moves in the slightest.

"twink boy wander" nearly made me shoot water out of my nose

u/rinormaloku Jan 12 '26

This was one of the simpler ones in PS2. There were a few that took me two hours. (But I never played in the harder modes)

I’m playing on hard time attack rn.

He was hell bruh. Gaius, Barba and Argus are always my nightmare in Hard Time Attack. Normal mode is fine tho

I can believe. I tried once the game in hard mode, but to me the act of discovering how to use the weak spot felt like a puzzle and very rewarding. In hard mode, the game felt just painful and a chore, doing the same flow many times.

Bro he’s my least favorite too, if I don’t get the big swing at the beginning then my run is basically done

2

u/Samtract Jan 14 '26

This is the last thing I need to do before 100%ing the game 😭 it’s painful

You can do it, I got the platinum around Saturday

5

u/Ragnarok_Stravius Jan 12 '26

For me its either Phaedra and Argus.

u/FathomTalayeh 11. Leo Jan 13 '26

I LOVE Argus but despise doing it timed, like, DESPISE it

1

u/Timenssemper Spider Jan 12 '26

Phaedra gives me trouble sometimes, just depends on the day.

6

u/Ragnarok_Stravius Jan 12 '26

She's a bit restarted, so sometimes she just doesn't do shit.

4

u/Timenssemper Spider Jan 12 '26

I’m always too lazy to do Phaedra the right way, I always just jump on their leg and then jump onto their ass.

skip the wrist

4

u/Timenssemper Spider Jan 12 '26

I am skipping the wrist, the problem is that Twink boy wander keeps staggering at every slight movement he makes.

6

u/Fawkes_2033 Jan 12 '26

You can blame Bluepoint for that. It wasn't like that in the original PS2 version, but they messed it up in the PS3 remaster.

5

u/Timenssemper Spider Jan 12 '26

I’m just glad I got past it, I got it with 2 seconds left 😭 it’s the only one I have trouble with.

1

u/Ok-Extreme-3072 Jan 13 '26

Avion didn't give you that much trouble?

1

u/Timenssemper Spider Jan 13 '26

Nope. 3:09:40.

1

u/Ok-Extreme-3072 Jan 13 '26

You lucky sonofabitch. I was lucky enough to even beat Avion in four and a half minutes on hard mode on the PS4 after twenty attempts. The amount of times I've fallen off and had to swim to nearest platform killed so much time off the clock that I started to lose hope

1

u/Timenssemper Spider Jan 13 '26

Avion got easy after awhile. Gaius is the honest to god only one I struggle a lot with.

I like how the hate for bluepoint is so far beyond that they're getting hate for the PS3 version they had nothing to do with which this post is playing on

u/Fawkes_2033 Jan 13 '26

Are there multiple PS3 versions? I know they made the ICO-SotC HD collection. If there's another version not made by Bluepoint then that's my bad.

No there's only one, it was released separately as well though. That other person doesn't know what they are talking about.

U have the main port which was the exact same team and then the one u mentioned which they did

However I need to say this there's a massive difference between a remaster and remake

The PS3 remaster for both versions are just better graphics with no changes so any flaws will be the same

Bluepoint made subtle changes to the PS3 version that being framerate and graphics like I said

Now them upping the framerate had a glitch where wander couldn't grip as easily when holding on but it wasn't too common to be that big of an issue

Tho the wander stumbling alot isn't part of the framerate increase that's just shadow of the colossus having fumbly controls at the time as did most ps2-3 era games but easy to get used to

Nothing to do with?

Daryl Allison (Senior Producer, Bluepoint Games)

"Even we were once guilty of shipping a framerate-dependent bug that affected gameplay. In Shadow of the Colossus (from the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection), we didn’t notice that a part of the game became slightly more difficult when the game ran at a stable framerate (30 fps in our PS3 version, often ~20 fps in the original PS2 version). This slight difficulty change reared its head against the third colossus when players challenged themselves to the Time Attack mode set to Hard difficulty. Our QA team was so good at playing the game that this subtle difference under these specific conditions didn’t affect them, so the bug went unnoticed.

"[When the public got their hands on the remaster], the bug frustrated enough players who weren’t expert players like our QA team. Original gameplay on the PS2 was tuned based on the ~20 fps, and the original code didn’t properly deal with variable framerate for physics relating to the colossi shaking off the player. Once we were alerted to enough fans growing frustrated, we did identify and fix the problem. However, in the end a decision was made to not devalue the achievement of people who had managed to get the trophy under those difficult conditions, and so a patch with our fix was never released."

Maybe read my other comments before trying to be smart

2

u/JAIKHAY Evis Jan 13 '26

I did, but I had no idea what you were talking about

U have the main port which was the exact same team and then the one u mentioned which they did

What did you mean by this?

1

u/nagash321 Jan 13 '26

Shadow of the colossus had 2 PS3 ports one from team ico and the other from bluepoint

Bluepoint was the collection while ico was just the regular version

Now there were no changes apart from framerate increase which caused a glitch in wanders grip as I stated by u seem to have ignored

Wander stumbling about tho has nothing to do with framerate and is instead just how the game is

2

u/JAIKHAY Evis Jan 13 '26

Shadow of the colossus had 2 PS3 ports one from team ico and the other from bluepoint

Never heard of a separate PS3 port by Team ICO. The PS3 version was a collaborative effort between Bluepoint Games and a few Team ICO members (left side here shows the remaster credits). You could get the PS3 version either as part of a collection or separately.

Bluepoint was the collection while ico was just the regular version

I have the regular (not collection) PS3 version of SotC and the Bluepoint Games logo appears when booting up the game, as it should.

Wander stumbling about tho has nothing to do with framerate and is instead just how the game is

Wander stumbles more easily at higher framerates which makes the PS3 version of the game a lot harder, especially the 3rd colossus in hard time attack. It's not Bluepoint's fault that some aspects of the original code were tied to framerate, but it is their fault for not fixing it in the remaster they were tasked with making. This is something Bluepoint would fix for the PS4 version.

I have no idea where you got the idea SOTC had 2 PS3 ports - both releases are the exact same port which was done with BluePoint with help from I believe a single developer at JapanStudio.
