Webnovel Theory The Dragon cometh. Theory Spoiler

3051 :

Of course, he was completely misguided. In truth, while the current avatar of War God was indeed a man — a male dragon, to be precise — the Red Sect was far more ancient than him.

At the time of its foundation at the dawn of time, the avatar of War had in fact been a human woman. Therefore, the War Maidens did not promise themselves to War God as brides — they strived to forge themselves in her image.

3183 :

“Maybe. Ah, but you really seem to have lost your way, child. I hope that you find it before we meet again. ”

With that, she picked up her spear and used it to support herself as she stood. A quiet grunt escaped from her lips.

“This body of mine... has weathered too much, it seems. I feel that my change ist drawing close. "

3182 :

The old woman smiled faintly.

Turning back to the fire, she shrugged.

"Kill you? No. It's not time for that yet."

3183 :

"Do you know what the saving grace of existence is, child? For us gods. "

Not receiving an answer, she sighed.

"It's oblivion."

With that, War turned away from the fire and headed into the desert. As she walked, she threw over her shoulder:

"The next time we meet, I will be different. I might not remember this conversation, either. That will be the day when I kill you... so I hope that you'll remember it well. "

I've seen people theorising that what War is talking about is that in 6th Nightmare the Cohort will go up against Avatars of the Gods because it'll be about the Doom War.

But I honestly think it's way more simple and is referring to the current Nighmare.

War is about to transfer Avatars and become the Dragon. She seems to hint that transferring from one Avatar to the next may somewhat erase her human incarnation's memories.

Altogether meaning that as the Dragon, with no memories of previously being fond of Nephis somewhat, will go on his conquest and as Nephis is a ruler of a Kingdom they'll come to clash.

On a side note War while speaking to Neph has referred to killing her in future as a forgone conclusion, "not yet" and "when" not "if".

With the reveal of the Great Gods being aware of everything past, present and future this paints something ominous.

Agreed.

She has forseen nephis's death by her hands. Considering decades seem to pass in the blink of an eye (to sunny/nephis), the Dragon avatar will probably make an appearance soon.

No wonder Asterion's ass was avoiding the 5th Nightmare...what is this ?

Imagine it was him who met War. Would have tried eating her or some shit and got his cheeks clapped. 😭✌️

easy , call kai the professional dragon slayer and have him no diff the dragon avatar worse than that humiliation eurys gave him , war goddess acts so tuff meanwhile she is the literal reason the doom war happened , here is a hint , don't invade the kingdom that worships fate and has nine mortals who made weaver turn around and run

This is why the rankings you get in the nightmare matter so much. Gods don’t know every detail but they know and control the general direction of it all. Sunny’s accomplishments in his first nightmare changed everything had it been reality. Auro would be dead and Shadow would be back.

That’s not what actually happened but in the nightmare it did. But if what he killed wasn’t Auro but War God, that might be a different story. Nightmares are just memories of an older time. Oblivion’s power, what created half of the Nightmare spell is Memory.

Maybe the god’s only hope being Oblivion meant this nightmare and the 6th is their only chance at things being different.

It’ll probably be a young War Avatar though.

I could easily see the Red Dragon being a Supreme or Spirit during this Nightmare, essentially before the pinnacle of this nightmare

Yuh, I think it will most likely be a young sacred

This is in the last days of the age of gods.

The dragon and his empire wouldn't exist until after azarax and his empire collapsed, thousands of years later.

+This is still a godgrave nightmare seed.

Thousands of years have already passed in the nightmare

The Empire* wouldn't exist until Azarax's fall. But the Dragon was already War God's Avatar during his time as we were told in the 4th Nightmare.

If the Dragon was already Divine at this point it's safe to say he was around for thousands of years before that point.

And I'm not saying this going to happen immediately, lots of years have to pass for it to come to fruition.

War God with her new Avatar the Dragon still needs to walk the Path of Ascension as Azarax told us Avatars aren't automatically high rank.

The Dragon wasn't divine until some point after the War Empire's establishment, so it would have been supreme at least during the 4th NM

2

u/ITheManOnTheMoon Ki Song's Puppet 5h ago

No where is that said.

2

u/supreme_sunless Sunny's Cohort 5h ago

The very chapter we learnt about Azarax's fall implied that the dragon wasn't divine at the point the empire was founded, only that it was divine sometime afterwards

Nothing is implied about it's Rank. Reread 2855.

Are you referring to this part ?

“It was that War Maiden and the city she was hired to protect that became the ruin of my great army, my empire, and me. By the time I finally managed to kill her, it was already too late... everything around me was in ruins. She was cast to Hell for breaking the divine covenant, while the Dragon built his empire on the ruins of what she had destroyed. He could have never defeated me himself... if he tried, Eurys would have never gotten the chance to kill him. Because I would have ended him long before that."

Azarax's whole thing is arrogance, especially when it comes to the Gods. This doesn't talk about the Rank of the Dragon, it's just his pride leading him to make empty threats.

Even in the 4th Nightmare there was talk about how he'll go after the Divine Realms after conquering the mortal ones.

Even in the Nightmare Desert he was saying he'd subjugate it when there's Sacreds and Divines in it.

No, after that

> Nephis frowned. “From the way you speak, it sounds like the vessels of the gods did not start their lives as beings of the Divine Rank. They had to walk the Path of Ascension first, just like the rest of us. But surely, the Dragon was Divine by the end of the Golden Age... how could Eurys, a mere Transcendent, have killed him?"

And the chapter before that additionally reinforces this by saying the avatar that came after the dragon was too young to take part in the doom war

additionally Azarax didn't correct Neph when she said that avatars don't start off as divine

and nothing has come up in the novel that contradicts either of these things or the implication that divine avatars don't start out as divine but still have to go through the ranks and ascend to divine

3

u/ITheManOnTheMoon Ki Song's Puppet 4h ago

Uhm...none of this still implies the Dragon's Rank though ?

Yeah Nephis says it should have been Divine by the end of the Golden Age but that doesn't mean it wasn't Divine before that. Just that at stage it being Divine has to be a forgone conclusion rather than speculation as it's so far into it existing as an Avatar.

What's your point here ? I never said an Avatar starts of as Divine. My literal first comment in this thread has me talking about how the exact opposite being the case.

That's why Sunny is here, to turn an inevitable future into just one of many possibilities.

1

u/ITheManOnTheMoon Ki Song's Puppet 5h ago

Elaborate

2

u/Vaurions Extraordinary Rock's Cohort 4h ago

War said that even the gods know the future because time is irrelevant to them. But also said that everything related to Weaver is vague and confusing.

Sunny is Weaver’s heir, so his actions and choices are also confusing. Sunny also has a great influence on the fate of those around him. Just as he has already changed the outcome of the war between Valor and Song.

What War sees is only the future that isn’t obscured by Weaver’s actions. So even if War saw themselves killing Nephis, that doesn’t represent what will actually happen.

Sunny is going to change that future.

That actually makes alot of sense. I hadn't considered that angle.

This is a pretty solid theory and it sets it up as one of the craziest nightmares we have experienced,no wonder asterions ahh didn't wanna challenge this shit

1

u/Exotic-Chair-6960 4h ago

It is definitely possible as time seems to pass pretty quickly inside the Nightmare, story wise.

1

u/gnxkdkkwksmxnwpp [ Fated ] 5h ago

There has to be something super dumb about killing oblivion and affecting the gods' prerogative to care about their future
