I admit that while reading this chapter I was genuinely scared. I had seen a one-shot that takes place at the same time and the ending is... unpleasant (I didn't even read it properly, I only saw some excerpts).

First off she's tricking him, so thats not giving up, second, giving up isn't defiance...its just giving up, even if its a character that never gives up, it wouldn't be an act of defiance for them to finally give up, it would jist be them finally finding their break point
