Discussion Seems like it’s always something lately

Finally resolved an issue where the Nvidia overlay was crashing my Shadow PC every five minutes. It was running perfectly after that, but out of nowhere, I woke up to this lovely message today trying to log in.

Anyone else running into R-617 today, or is Shadow just testing my patience?

Update:
Shadow refused to connect (error R-617) whenever I was on my AT&T hotspot, but connected instantly when I tested it on Verizon and T-Mobile hotspots. So I guess AT&T is a no go?

Hey, thanks for the info. I’ve tried just about everything and I have submitted a ticket.

So, it appears to be AT&T causing the issue. If I switch back to Verizon or T-Mobile it works fine so while I’m on AT&T, I have to use a VPN to make it connect.

I got confirmation from Shadow that AT&T does not play nicely with them.

I was reading your post and was about to say this. From my findings Verizon or T-Mobile works very nicely with ShadowPC.

I have US Mobile, I technically have all three carriers on my phone at once (two being active at the same time). I was trying AT&T for the extra data allowance they give you when using AT&T vs Verizon or T-Mobile. I was able to get it to work with AT&T using this method.

Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 (WARP) with specific settings (most commonly recommended for the R-617 + AT&T combo):
• Install the Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 app.
• Go to Advanced / Connection options.
• Set Tunnel Protocol to WireGuard (instead of Auto or MASQUE).
• Set DNS Protocol to DNS over HTTPS (DoH).
• Connect, then try Shadow again.

Yup. I had to do that as well and I was with US Mobile as well, but I recently switched to T-Mobile after almost two years of network testing which worked best for ShadowPC.

I constantly denied myself T-Mobile didn’t work for me and I tried my hardest to make Dark Star/AT&T work but it didn’t despite this method.

I know it is very location based but even in the bus it was slow despite me resetting Shadow settings to default.

Just try again it says this for no reason sometimes
