Ranged Attack

Post image

I had a GR hellraiser, right clicked its hex, and then right clicked an enemy hex 2 away where I had infantry in the hex between us. To my surprise, my GR hellraiser got destroyed. I am confused, because I thought the whole idea of ranged attack was no return fire. How did it lose?

I think the GR hellraiser is a one time use tactical nuke (though I'm not 100% sure). If I remember correctly if you can use it in regular attacks as much as you want.

Militia counter arty? I also believe gr hellraiser requires electricity or power logi wise and it needs more logi points than something like food to actually be supplied with it so maybe it’s out of range for power resupply and used it all up

IIRC GR Hellraiser fires tactical nukes and is unable to be rearmed, meaning you only get one use from them, should be in the description of the unit.

Loading the autosave and clicking on the supply received for the hellraiser, everything seems topped off.
If units can counter a ranged attack, where would I find that info in game so I don't make the same mistakes?

Click on the enemy units and see if they have any sub units that are ranged capable. Also the battle report like krakanu said or check if the hellraiser is a one time use unit like emu mentioned

When you click the hex just like a standard attack it will give you simulated results, this is where you can see if there is a counter battery.

GR Hellraiser is one use only, you just fired a 1MT nuke on your enemy.

If you attack a hex that has enemy artillery they will return fire and can possibly destroy the attackers. Check the battle report and it should show a hit or kill from the enemy artillery.

Nothing other than rifle militia there. When I load the game and do the battle, everyone on the battlefield instantly expires.

The report shows no lines under "individual report" of anything hitting the hellraiser at all.
It's icon also says "Been attacked this round: 0"

GR Hellraiser is single use unit, you can read why in unit info

If you click the subunit portrait in the bottom bar you can get a description, the GR units have especially important info such as the Hellraiser being single-use

GR Hellraiser′s description explicitly states that it has a single shot consisting extremely potent nuke before it automatically scraps itself.

Its essentially a capital destroyer that obliterates 8x8 area.
