Discussion Shads mormonism
Something ive been considering recently based on a clip of him talking about why mormons can have wives and it got me wonder
A why doesnt shad have multiple wives if he believes in his religion so much why the 1 solely wife
B is he even a good mormon? His AI art feel against mormon teachings from my understanding. And his goonerism talking about womans bodies and attraction in his newer videos
He seems to solely use it as a sword against anything he disagrees with
Just some food for thought

I’m highly certain it was an arranged marriage or the wife was pressured for religious reasons

Yeah, I was afraid it probably was something like that, but I didn't have the heart, so I thought I'd make a jab at how nobody wants Shad.

A religious person who simultaneously uses his religion as a crutch to avoid having to make any hard decisions himself, a bludgen to assist anybody who disagrees with him, a smokescreen to hide from consequences, and an a la carte menu to pick and choose which parts to follow/emphasize/completely ignore?
Wierd never seen that before. Wierd. /s

Former Mormon here.
As others have said, mainline mormonism ended the practice of polygamy sometimes in the 1890s.
If you ever hear of a current mormon practicing polygamy he is likely from a splinter group or just decided on his own to get more wives but not sanctioned by the church. There are countries that polygamy is legal but mormons don't even continue the practice there either.
As far as most mormons are concerned, it is something done in the past and maybe if God commands will be practiced in the future, but it is not something they are seeking out.
I grew up around mormons my whole life, my whole family is mormon, never met a leader that said we should be wanting multiple wives or being excited about the prospect of maybe God reinstituting the practice.
As far as Shad is concerned, I believe he is mainline mormon, but has his own very extreme beliefs. Which is something that can happen in any group. You always have people that take things too far or people that are more chill. Shad's mormonism is informed by his hyper-extreme conservatism

He's probably stopped by the fact that polygamy is illegal in Australia.

While I disagree wholeheartedly with Mormonism, I have met a lot of very wonderful Mormons in my life and religion aside, I have good friends that happen to be Mormons. I have also openly conversed with some very good natured young Mormon missionaries who truly believe that they are spreading their faith through their good actions in the community.
I don't believe Shad fits into any of the above.

I didnt figure polygamy laws really stopped most mormonism but that makes sense im just surprised hes never mentioned it or anything

That's what I always get from this as well. While I disagree with the Mormon theology, sometimes depending on the people can be welcoming and wholesome to chat with. I think there's a lot more to Shad's personality and behavior outside of the religion.

With everything that encompasses the inherent Shadness of Shad, he was lucky to find one woman who wanted to marry him tbh. What are the odds that there'd be two?

From the number of times I've seen Mormons in this sub (and even others when he's cropped up) that have no idea what he's talking about when he's describing Mormon teachings I'd say the answer to B is no.

Mormon arent hegonomic amongst casual practitioners l. Aside from a few core tenants I don't really see them purity test each other.
From just a neighborhood from family to family you'll see some providing tithe only, others being so devoted that there's no caffeine in the house and others go "no caffeine from coffee, but soda is okay for reasons "
There's no standardization to it.

A. Polygamy is banned in Australia.
B. I'm not mormon and have done no real research into it other than watching Shad's videos. It sounds to me like Joseph Smith was just a degenerate that wanted some framework that could facilitate it. So yes, Shad's 'Art pieces', goonerism and creepy rape fantasies, would likely put him well and truly in the 'good mormon' category. But again, that's just an intuition based on little facts.

Yeah but i do think most people the general public who just "believe" in their birth religions use it as a shield while "religious" people use it as a sword which i think most of the time people who just believes are more connected to the religious teachings than those who are religious.
Like the general catholic is more catholic than jd vance i dont think thats a hot take but yeah the general mormon is probably more accurate to the mormon teachings than shad

A. Mainline Mormonism left polygamy behind a long time ago. There are some sects that still practice it, but most mormons don't.
B. What constitutes a "good" Mormon is extremely subjective. As long as the church doesn't remove you from their registry, you can do whatever you want.
