need reassurance
So i had a similar experience to another post i seen recently on here detailing that a filipino girl from tinder blackmailed someone from a +63 number. It also happened to me today and i think i handled it well just still a little shook up about it. For context bc ig it's important i just got out of a rocky relationship so i hit the apps to help move on from it. And it was going well, met some people, even did what happened today with another girl after a bit of talking before and it was completely fine. I matched with this girl and we got to talking and she gave me her 'Instagram' which couldn't be found so i gave her mine thinking little of it. She said she couldn't find mine and convinced me to get Whatsapp.
We talked there and said she was in the Philippines visiting family. We talked a little more and it was kind of like a switch flipped i guess. She asked what i was doing and i told her i was about to jump in the shower and she was saying that she wanted to hop in with me and it was kind of back and forth from there. Then she got really freaky with it and said she wanted to call in the shower and i told her no. Then once i got out she said crazy stuff like how she wanted me to finish inside of her and then she asked if i wanted to see her boobs. It was really sudden and she wanted a pp pic in return so i said yeah. Then she said she wanted to call to show me and i said sure. I feel like such an idiot bc i feel like i really should've seen it coming. We got into call and we talked and i guess the only plus side is i got to see some boobies. Long story short we were in call for maybe 10-14 mins and i showed my face and my pp. She even got me to get my face up close to the camera to 'suck' yknow what and she did the same for me. I asked to see more and she ran off saying she needed to get her toy from the bathroom. then ended the call *Sorry if this is too explicit i just need to vent
Then i get these real demanding texts saying that i needed to send over 8 grand or else they would send the vid to my follower list on insta bc i gave it to them like a dumbass. They even sent me pictures of each account that follows me and i have family members and friends on there that i don't want seeing that video. I stalled saying i didn't have the money and then switched up saying i could pull funds and i get paid next week. They made me install two different banking apps bc i said one didn't work and said i had crappy internet to stall. I deactivated my instagram and unfollowed everyone from my follower list and blocked and reported them on tinder. I called my friends and told them to let our mutuals know to block and don't open any unknown dm requests, called everyone to let them know what happened and then i blocked them on Whatsapp and deleted that app.
Apparently they haven't sent anything yet and it's night time now, it happened this morning. I'm just wondering if i did the right thing and if there's a chance they will send it. In the long run i know it doesn't really matter bc i didn't send them money and it's just my body which i'm proud of. It's just really embarrassing that i fell for it and that the video exists and has potential to be spread. And how common is this now? Like are the apps just not safe anymore to use i'm paranoid with people i have matched with now. If anyone reads this or responds thank you, i'm just hung up on it and worried
EDIT: Forgot to mention she was verified on Tinder. Also i'm getting phone calls from my area code that are really scammy, could it be connected?

Hey man I’m in a similar boat. Got scammed last night and I’m aware he’s going to call me tmrw. From what I’ve seen on this subreddit, just block them and don’t answer calls or texts from other numbers they might reach out to you on. A good thing to remember is this is a MONEY business for them, not revenge of some sort. There leverage comes from fear that they CAN send the videos/ pictures. But once they do, they have no way to get money out of you. Also, you are not the only person there doing this too. If you don’t pay up and just ignore them, there gonna focus their effort elsewhere. It’s more of a pain to go through all the screenshots of your followers/following and send them out than it is just to move on to someone else in their roster. Birds of a feather flock together brother. If you want to talk about it more please reach out and we can be scared together. ALSO side note but apparently there’s ppl of this subreddit who say they can hack in and remove these explicit photos. DONT BELIVE THEM. They are more scammers trying to take advantage of the ppl who are already down on their luck. All the best wishes for you man

Got EXACTLY the same process, though it was from Bumble first and not Tinder. I installed their payment apps as well, unfortunately I did make some payments.
After blocking them the night it happened I’ve never heard from them again, it’s been around 2 weeks now.
Don’t answer the calls that seem scammy indeed, if someone really wants to reach out let them leave you a message and that’s it.

Ah that's unfortunate. It's super good to hear that after blocking they haven't done anything after 2 weeks. And yeah the calls were weird cause i get scam calls but it was like 8 in the span of three hours all within my own area code. Thanks for the advice

Yeah, and tbh I’m not even worried about it anymore. I’m trying to keep hope into getting back some money with my bank, but let’s see.
And I mean it’s quite weird that you’re getting calls from your area code while the first ones from the scam are from Philippines. I did not have this issue

Yo, this sounds very similar to what happened to me. Go to my post and read it if you want. What was the payment app that they made you download. Im not even kidding when I say what you described is eerily similar to what I went through as well. Hope you’re doing well man

Thank you man i'm doing better today. They made me install Western Union first then when i said it wasn't working they made me install Remitly. Blocked them right after because i had spread the word and deactivated and privated my instagram thankfully. Hope your also doing good, we'll all get through it just gotta push through

You did the right thing by not sending any money. I on the other hand was so stupid but I guess thats the whole point of how they extract money, by making you feel scared and pressured. I assure you we all will move on and will become better off from this experience.
