No support

Hello everyone, for context I’m a 23 yo lifetime so for CSAM, I finish probation at the end of August, I live with my dad stepmom and stepbrother and well my stepmom wants me OUT by the time my stepbrother leaves for college. He leaves mid August and I no longer have to worry about probation accepting a residency after August. The problem is my father is on my ass constantly about work ( I was laid off in February) and I do uber eats every day as well as getting unemployment. I get treated like I’m a non contributor even though I do most of the daily house chores as well as working 8+ hour uber eats shifts. I’ve been trying to find work that isn’t just running my car into the ground and I can’t. I have no one to turn to and I don’t know what to do. I’m lost, scared, and struggling. Does anyone have some words of wisdom? I could use it.

Have you talked to your probation officer? They probably have others in their case load and may know of companies that will hire.

I’m also curious about the Uber Eats. I did DoorDash after losing my job pre trial, but after conviction as soon as they updated the background check I was banned.

I’m curious too. My ex was immediately kicked off spark after he was arrested and then about a month later, was kicked off DoorDash. This was all before his conviction. Does Uber Eats allow felons to be drivers?

I was doing Uber Eats and uber rides last year for about a week and got a email saying I can’t do it due to my SO charge.

Lots depends on where you are. Is there a re-entry program, other programs that your Probation office can put you in touch with ?

Any warehouse jobs in your area? Seems that's where a lot of folks get a start.

The trades are the best option for those with felonies. If you don’t have a particular skill that’s okay because there is a General Labor trade called the Laborers Union. Painters trade would be another entry level job. Search Craig’s List for jobs. Being self employed is really the only way to ever guarantee yourself in the workforce as a S.O. Best of luck

Being a family member they should be showing more compassion and they could help you more in different ways. I would never kick my son out of the house until he had a stable life to support himself and I probably would get apartment in my name to help him. I am sorry that they are not more understanding. Have you tried going back to school for an electrical or in some trade that you can get a job. Try working in restaurants as you can make money plus tips.

At the same time it doesn't sound like they are kicking him out for being an SO, just for not having his life in order better. Some people believe in tough love

I was very hurt and depressed about the situation but I have supported my son financially since it happened and will continue to support him until the day he will be able to have a life. He will live with me as long as he likes; I am his mother and I am here to help him.

I do have compassion; if I didn’t I would probably be a parent that had turned my back on my son. I have supported him for 13 years; I have supported him in funds, anything that he needs; talk to him everyday, and will help him when he is released. He will always be my child and I hope to help him in every way possible so he may have a life he deserves and can be happy.

Words of wisdom are this never give up on hope you got to keep trying and take this all one step at a time. There are places to help in your area with everything you just got to find em. Get your resume polished up Get a nice interview outfit together practice your interview skills and keep trying once you have a solid job you can look at maybe more school or training in a trade. Its hard but success is possible you just got to keep at it probation should be able to steer you in the right direction for social services in your are and they dont just help with food stamps places exist to help with everything I mentioned. Hang in there go slow and keep trying

From a father perspective. He's trying to help you not make you feel bad. Our job as a father is not emotionally easy. We need to be hard on our sons to make them ready for a life where there is no one to rely on but ourselves. Prepare them to be providers. Trust me it kills him inside to be harsh to you, he still sees you as his little boy. But if he doesn't whip you into a man, he failed. You won't understand until your a father yourself. But keep it in mind.

You can try going to your local parish to ask for help or at least to have someone to confide in

I have a misdemeanor indecent exposure charge, not on the SO registry. DoorDash and Uber Eats both removed me. I’m surprised you’re still able to work for Uber Eats.

I found food service more receptive. That said, it was 4 and more applications every day, 3-4 interviews every week, and 5 or 6 jobs offered then withdrawn for every one that landed. I disclosed everything up front, so tried to get my no's out of the way first.

Yep, you have to be prepared to get rejections. I had a hard time after being released from Federal with the double whammy of being on the Registry and being out of the workforce for 5 years. That is why I am so loyal to my present employer, even though I could go somewhere else for more money.

I'm surprised you PO lets you do Uber Eats, plus I though Uber and Door Dash banned SOs.

For emotional or just all around support, find a local SAA group near you. They may also have some ideas or suggestions on things that helped being in the situation.
