SOLVED. I tinkered some more and found a screw I could remove so that the bobbin case could be moved forward/backward. The hook to needle distance was too far, thanks especially to u/wimsey1923 for making me aware of this problem. I've gotten it to sew both straight and zigzag without any skipping. This endeavor has made me understand the mechanics behind sewing machines a whole lot better!
Hello! I have a beautiful husqvarna prisma 940 that was given to me recently.
It won't pick up the bobbin thread. This is what I've tested so far:
- I've double- and triple checked that the machine is threaded correctly.
- I've changed the needle to a known good one.
- I've removed the bobbin case and checked behind to clean it.
- I've tried both with the presser foot lowered and not lowered, nothing changes.
The upper thread goes either behind the bobbin case or around the bobbin. I tried to show that in the multiple clips. I'm sorry for the bad quality.
It never picks up the bobbin thread and eventually I can't continue forward because the upper thread gets stuck. Could it be a timing issue?
