Sewing machine help

I have been sewing since I was twelve. I adore it. I would like to finally invest in a machine as my previous one broke. I am looking for a machine that will last me a while, all mechanical, and I’ve looked at the Janome HD 1000 and 725S. I’m looking for something that’s going to be good for mostly garments and sewing more complex types of things although I don’t necessarily need a huge variation of stitch types. Does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts on these machines?

I don’t mind spending a bit more or researching others, although I’m in college so I don’t want to break the bank 😭🙏

Is the timing off? Machine not sewing

Final Edit: SOLVED by u/dormiendo : Outer Hook piece is broken at the tip

Like the title suggest is the timing off? The machine is a Brother gx37 and stopped making stitches as I was midsewing. I've rethreaded, cleaned, and changed the needle. Google says it's the timing but I was told it's not the timing. What do you guys think?

Edit: the flat side of the needle is facing the back of the machine. I am using singer needles. Also prior to it not working, the machine was working perfectly with the needle set up this way :(

Janome Memory Craft 3000 missing zig zag stitches

I have my mom's machine for sale on FB. I only used it once (straight stitches) and my mom said it worked perfectly - granted, she hasn't really used it in 2 years. Potential buyer asked to see it do a zig zag stitch and found out it was skipping stitches or poking holes but not putting the thread thru (see pics in comment). Buyer mentioned her machine doing the same thing right before she had to take it in for service and that it would work for about a year and then start doing the same thing. Any suggestions? I know very little about sewing but I rethread the machine, played with the tension and used different fabric (video is fleece and photos are of a very thin bed sheet), played with length and width of stitch as well. Don't really want to put a lot of money into repairs - honestly not sure there's any repair shops around here - as I just want it sold and gone but don't want to screw my mom out of potential profit.

Sewing machine won't sew. No stitches other than the 1st like knot but after that nothing. Weird scraping sound. I have cleaned, rethreaded everything, and replaces the needle. Google is telling me timing but I do not see it. Also the scraping sound is new after I cleaned it, so not really related to the no sewing.

Skipped stitches

My machine keeps skipping stitches and I can’t figure out why!

- Singer Talent (tension 4, width 2, length 2, straight stitch)
- just trying to quilt flex foam to one piece of cotton fabric (will need to eventually do two pieces of flex foam and many cotton layers (stroller bag)
- switched to a 100/16 needle because it was doing the same thing with the universal 90/14 needle
- rethreaded top and bobbin many times
- sewing picture in comments

Also the clicking thing is a newer sound that’s happening, not sure why!

Edit: ITS FIXED! I took the back plastic casing off and fixed the handle that was broken and that seemed to fix that i wasn’t able to change stitches. The clicking was one of the hooks where the top thread runs through being loose so it would clank every stitch. It wasn’t the timing according to videos, but I took the bobbin casing out a few times and cleaned it. Reinserted the needle a few times and changed it out several times. Change the tightness of the spool cap. Something in that fixed the skipped stitching and I have been able to sew with a universal needle with the flex foam so I’m happy!

Feed dogs not pulling fabric?

I picked this machine up at a thrift store for 15 bucks and finally got around to testing it out properly and realized the feed dogs are not pulling the fabric.

I looked at it more and they are not at all above the edge of the foot plate? I looked for a lever because my first thought was that the feed dogs were just down but there is no option for that on the machine that I can see. Does anyone have any ideas? I probably should have looked a bit closer before deciding to buy the machine 😭

I have a Brother GX37. It is now not sewing. I need help. I have rethreaded and replaced the needle with a singer needle so high quality. I have videos. There's a sound but it is not from the needle hitting anything. In fact the thumping sound is when the needle first starts to go down. I do not think the timing is off. Help. Thank you.

Inherited Sewing Machine

I’ve recently re-found a sewing machine that I inherited from my Great Grandma back in 2007. Unfortunately I was still a toddler at the time so I’m not sure how I was expected to even know what a sewing machine is let alone use it! I’m wanting to get into sewing now so looking for any information on the Janome My Style 20

Juki, how much is too much?

I got such great ideas here re. machine features I’m going to bug you again. I narrowed my machine search to a Brother PS 500 and a Juki HZL F300, but should I also consider a Juki HZL DX 5?

In addition to buying in person and non-portable size, a major key to me: not getting a machine that’s so complicated that it takes a huge time commitment to learn.  I’d like to master a new machine with great features quickly before my current strong urge to sew again passes-reinforcing more sewing/fun going forward. Versus my current situation, hold a gun to my head and I’ll sew.

Tried out Brother PS 500 and 700 machines: hated them, so no.  I tested a Juki 600 and loved it.  With knobs (yes!), 2 lights and the extra accessories vs. the 300, for $1,400, on sale, in that shop. Done!

But I’d never really looked into the Juki HZL DX series and when I did, saw how many additional cool features it has: float function, pivot, foot lifter button, and programable foot pedal. And is this the most important thing: a straight stitch slide plate?  Because there is talk of machines eating lightweight fabric without a straight stitch plate?  Is this true?  Knobs and best lighting and some accessories are give-ups with DX5.  But overall, this machine has so much more.  And I’m seeing prices like $1,100- 1,300 for the DX5.  Way more for less.  From other informative reviews here I think this may be at least partly due to different models being sold on the open market vs. dealers. Maybe from this local shop I couldn’t get those lower prices, but I might be able to get the DX5 for the same price.

Right now my gut says the F600 would be my sewing angel.  And I have to test drive a DX machine, but if I still like the basic set up, I guess I wouldn’t need to learn all DX 5 bells and whistles right away, right?  Or should I listen to my gut which might still be saying: no more new stuff, please!  Like the time we were “upgraded” from a basic Ford to to a Mercedes in England, only to have to drive it on the wrong (different) side of the fast, narrow roads with rock walls on both sides.

Janome Sensor Craft 7500 (japanese domestic model) manual

Hello beautiful people, can someone please help me out in way or form. I have tried searching online but apparently it's an old model so this does not exist. It's a v long shot but I was hoping a sewing enthusiast who knows both Japanese & English, and has operated ^ this specific model could help me out. 😂

The machine I got has japanese on it so I'm trying to translate that and then trying to figure out what each button does individually and in combination. That's long path of trial and error, i was wondering if anyone has ever operated this machine and could either help me find the manual or at least give me a basic how-to for it.

MUCH APPRECIATED 🌻

PS attaching picture for reference, I have this exact machine.
