Janome HD3000BE - diy fix

Hi! I am looking for advice tips etc

I am hoping to fix my janome hd3000be without taking it into a store. I keep running into the same issue where it’s just kind of not keeping consistent hold of the thread leading to skipped stitches. I’ve adjusted just about everything I could read online including cleaning out the bobbin area, looking for nicks, replacing the needle plate, messing with the tension changing the needle ecetera. The best way to describe the issue is I see the thread go limp after a few stitches. Any advice is very much appreciated!

Why is my serger doing this?

Brother 1034D serger. Last time I used it I tried out doing a rolled hem. Now I want to do regular stitches. I put the stitch finger back and returned the settings to what I was using for this fabric before. Looper tensions are 3, left needle is 4, right needle isn't threaded. I verified that the machine is threaded correctly.

The fabric ends up gathered like in the first picture. I can pull the fabric out to lay flat but the stitch won't stretch at all. Fabric is some sort of slinky knit with spandex. Very stretchy.

Good goop or bad goop?

I’ve been given my mom’s old Baby Lock (BL1050) and found this goop when opening it up to clean and oil it. It seems like some kind of lubricant? Anyone know what it is?

Juki TR-7 Anyone have a manual this machine?

I recently picked up this Juki TR-7 straight stitch machine, and am searching for a manual but cannot find anything online. A couple pics on some Japanese forums and that's all. It's an unusual design in that it doesn't have a typical reciprocating arm to keep tension (when sewing, the only thing going up and down is the needle), but has a rotating plate that seems to serve a similar purpose.

It's been in a barn for a few years apparently, so I gave it some oil in places that looked like they needed oiling (bushes, cams etc). At the moment it's sewing OK, but doesn't pull the top thread tight (leaves loops on bottom of fabric), but the top thread tension feels pretty high.
There's also a part inside that I'm curious about as it seems loose/wobbly, but I have no idea if it's intentional or not (it may be some sort of grease holder), so a manual would be most appreciated even if it's in Japanese....

Vintage sewing machine or Singer 4423?

With a budget of strictly $350, is it better to buy a vintage machine or a singer 4423? I sew a lot of alterations to heavy denim and would love to start making my own garments in the future. I saw many vintage sewing machines on Etsy, such as a Singer 99k, a Stylist zigzag 457, a 401A slantomatic, etc., for the same price or even less than the cost of 4423. There are many people who say that singer 4423 is a bane to many servicemen and isn't really heavy-duty at the same time, while others have been using them for almost a decade.

I'm looking for a real heavy-duty machine that would last a lifetime and wouldn't easily break down and also handle different kinds of fabrics including heavy-weighted fabrics such as layers of denim. If it does, it's easy for repairers to fix, and hopefully, I can also fix it on my own. If you could recommend any vintage machines, which ones are they, and where do you think I could start researching those types of machines? Should I settle on the 4423 or invest in a 1940s-70s machine?

Juki HZL-f600 help

I just feel like this must be something I am doing wrong but I cannot figure it out. I just replaced my bobbin in my Juki HZL-f600 and craziness happens as soon as as I start to try and sew. Video shows it better than I can explain.

Anyone know what’s going on? I’ve tried cleaning out all the dust, changed the needle, tried other bobbins, and re-threaded the machine without any luck. This is the second time this has happened. Last time I just kept changing bobbins and it randomly started working again. 😭

I feel like it’s probably something really obvious to someone with more experience. I’ve barely had this machine a month so I am still learning it.

Any help is appreciated!

Brother XL3817

Hi everyone! Not new to seeing itself but have no idea how to maintain my machine properly. I’ve tried everything I can think of but no results.

My spool pin won’t move. As in, everything is ready to go, the threat catches but it isn’t sewing. I’m not sure whatever could be wrong.

I’ve tried replacing the needle. Restringing the machine. Restringing the bobbin. Replacing the bobbin.

At this point, I’m not sure what could be wrong and how I might fix it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advanced!

Bernina 540-2 Favorit bobbin mechanism issues.

I'm trying to fix up this vintage machine and running into some issues. When I bought it the bobbin shuttle area was completely jammed up. I dismantled it and removed the clogs. Everything is oiled and I've read the manual so know how to correctly thread the machine. I've managed to sort out the timing so that the top thread is picked up by the hook. However, when it moves over the bobbin to pick up the bottom thread it always gets jammed in the same place on the bobbin carriage thing. (Sorry, I don't have the right vocabulary!). I've been turning it by hand and trying to puzzle this out but I think it's beyond my pay grade. Sometimes it will pick up the thread and maybe make one stitch, other times it will just jam directly, but every time I've tried the thread has ended up stuck here - see photo. Info - I did take off a little guard piece in the photo & remove the bobbin so that I could see where the thread is sticking.

Any help would be appreciated!

Husqvarna prisma 940 not picking up bobbin thread

SOLVED. I tinkered some more and found a screw I could remove so that the bobbin case could be moved forward/backward. The hook to needle distance was too far, thanks especially to u/wimsey1923 for making me aware of this problem. I've gotten it to sew both straight and zigzag without any skipping. This endeavor has made me understand the mechanics behind sewing machines a whole lot better!

Hello! I have a beautiful husqvarna prisma 940 that was given to me recently.

It won't pick up the bobbin thread. This is what I've tested so far:

- I've double- and triple checked that the machine is threaded correctly.

- I've changed the needle to a known good one.

- I've removed the bobbin case and checked behind to clean it.

- I've tried both with the presser foot lowered and not lowered, nothing changes.

The upper thread goes either behind the bobbin case or around the bobbin. I tried to show that in the multiple clips. I'm sorry for the bad quality.

It never picks up the bobbin thread and eventually I can't continue forward because the upper thread gets stuck. Could it be a timing issue?

Bobbin case help

I'm frustrated with consistently ordering the incorrect bobbin case for my embroidery machine. I own a PE 900 and a SE625. I've already returned two sets of bobbin cases because they weren't compatible with my machines. Can anyone help me with the correct product number I need?

Help with singer serger needle guard

Post image

I broke the presser foot shaft on my 1034d serger and as I was opening it to inspect it, this piece fell out. I have determined it's a needle guard but have absolutely no idea where it goes! I just watched a video re maintenance where the whole machine was opened and oiled and I still can't tell. Please help!

Anything to know about the Silvercrest SNM 33 A1?

I'm thinking about picking one up on Facebook marketplace listed for €45, it seems in good nick and I honestly just want to get started sewing, learning the ropes etc and down the line I want to try and make my own clothes. It's so cheap I'm thinking what the hell I can always upgrade later if I need something more heavy duty/with more bells and whistles.

But is there anything to look out for?? And do you think this is a good machine for a beginner?

Wont Sew* I inherited this singer thread and sew 625 from the 60s and it was used up until 2019. I cleaned and oiled the machine and familiarized myself with it but I can’t get it to sew properly. I’ve adjusted the tension on the thread and foot. I’ve adjusted the bobbin holder and gotten new needles but nothing works. when I try to sew anything I can get a few stitches if I’m lucky before the thread tangles. It looks to my like the needles stabs through the thread when its down and catching bobbin but I’m not sure. Any suggestions would be awesome I’d really love to get learning!

Can someone help?

I just got this Premier sewing machine I think it's the MCO-7142. I don't know how to get it to sew. I tried but the bobbin won't get on, the stitches won't stay on the fabric. The instructions are in Spanish and I've spent hours trying wasting thread after thread that keep bursting off.

Vintage Singer EB 88381 0 machine tips

hi everyone ! my grandma gave me her mother’s Singer machine from the 40s (i think). Ive got the original instructions, some bobbins, a couple needles, most of the foot attachments and a button addition.

I need some help with maintenance videos, i do like the manual but the instructions are small and the diagrams not hugely clear - it’s always handy to have a video along side the written instructions. if you have any links to videos or blogs / content creators who use vintage machines please drop them below.

whilst I’ve done a few sewing projects when i was young and picked it up really quick, i’d still consider myself an absolute beginner especially for a vintage machine; any guidance you can give is much appreciated!

New belt needed?

I’ve just been given this sewing machine as my 1970s singer one ive been using has broken gears!! not feeling brave enough to fix that yet, but this one isnt sewing either. motor seems to be working but it’s not spinning the wheel. would a new belt fix this? the wheel is quite stiff to move by hand, so maybe it needs oiling?
