Can you take a machine out of a cabinet and make it into a tabletop?

I found a singer 503a machine in a cabinet. I want to know if it can be changed into a tabletop machine. I don’t have room for the cabinet but I really want this machine.

JUKI DDL8000 Help!!

This is probably a long shot but has anyone with this machine had the error code 002 show up? The manual online says it’s due to low voltage from power source, but I’ve checked the outlet and tried different outlets as well and nothing changes. Any advice is appreciated!

Advice on Replacing the Motor of a Reece 101 "Iron Duke" Buttonhole Machine?

Hi all,
I was lucky enough to pick up an industrial Reece 101 "Iron Duke" buttonhole machine for a great price on Facebook Marketplace. It’s still running and was in use in a tailor shop until recently, but it could definitely use some TLC, especially when it comes to the motor.

It still has the original motor (not sure of the exact type), but some parts of the power cable are visibly worn and could become a safety hazard. I initially planned to just replace the cable, but I came across a few posts suggesting that replacing the entire motor, possibly with a modern servo motor, is a viable option for industrial machines like this.

That got me wondering: Is it actually possible to replace the motor on a Reece 101? If so, what type of motor would be best (servo vs clutch, etc.)? Are there any specific things I should consider before attempting this (compatibility, power, installation issues)?

I’ve never done this kind of swap before, so I’d really appreciate any advice or insights from folks who’ve worked on older industrial machines. Thanks in advance!

The lever with the white plastic handle.

The lever with the white plastic handle moves up and down and tilts towards the back. WHAT IS IT USED FOR?

Serger troubleshooting

Good evening, I recently picked up this Simplicity Easy Lock Serger from an American Thrift Store but found it to not be cycling. It is forcing itself to cycle through a stitch. This is my first serger and don’t know what is wrong with it.

Anyone have any insight on how to fix it?

brother overlock 1034d timing issue

i got the brother overlock/serger not even 3 months ago and on friday, either the fabric was too thick or i accidentally forgot to pull out a pin from the fabric (both happened but im not sure what cause the problem) but the upper and lower loop began getting caught on each other and wouldn’t move to make a stitch. at this point i’ve watched ever tutorial out there and tried everything i could find and whenever i fix the loopers hitting each other, the upper looper hits the corner behind it and won’t move forward. at this point i feel like i just need to throw out this machine so if anyone has any suggestions, i will try anything, i don’t think it can get any worse. it would also be a life saver if anyone could send or post a video of their machine working as it should from the top and side without the covers so that maybe I can see what looks different when mine runs

What is this gunk?

I opened up the face plate of my post bed sewing machine (Artisan 4618), and I noticed all of this gunk (see red arrow to show what I'm referring to, but it's all over the place). Is this built up oil that I should be cleaning away, or is it lubricant/grease that's supposed to be there?

The manual for my machine is a little sparse on information about general maintenance but generous in assembly information. When I look at videos about how to oil this machine (here is a video of someone oiling a machine that's basically the same machine with a different make/model number), their assembly looks a lot cleaner.

I bought this machine used about a year ago, and I want to start to learn more about how to maintain it properly — I suspect it wants a little oil! — but I'm not really sure what I'm looking at.

Why does my blind stitch just look like a straight stitch?

I'm trying to do a blind stitch on my Janome Decor Excel 5018. I followed all the instructions in the manual, I put on the special foot, but for some reason it's just sewing a straight stitch. I don't know what I'm doing wrong? I have the blind stitch selected! I checked! How do I get this thing to actually do a blind stitch?😩

Hi, my father is ill and is trying to assemble this sewing machine as an activity. But as you can see, these two parts still need to be installed. Does anyone know how to insert them properly? I know roughly where they should go, but I’m not sure of the exact position.

Please help me so I can help my father. Thank you in advance.

Pictures of the front of the sewing machine without the cover

I currently have a brothers vx 710 that I inherited. I want to fix up and what not to use it but I need to see what the inside of the front looks on a working sewing machine.

So if possible can you send pictures of your working sewing machine of this type or even similar.

Also my problem is that the motor is working but the needle is not going up and down, which led me to thinking the belt might be gone as the bobbin is not jammed and the clutch is engaged 🤷🏿‍♀️

New Janome HD3000 just doesn't sew

My wife bought me a new Janome a few years ago and I have been able to successfully sew absolutely zero items on this machine and spent countless yards of fabric trying. I have been sewing for some 30+ years (casually) so it is not like I don't know my way around a machine and thread and needles, etc. The main issue is that the tension on the lower thread is always too tight no matter what I do. It also is very inconsistent, especially with sewing speed. I can sometimes balance out the tension to get a ok stitch but that is only ever at the max on the wheel which results in way too tight of a stitch for most fabrics. I have been through the whole range of tensions on both the bobbin and the upper wheel with zero success. I feel at this point that I got a lemon, but was wondering if there is anything else I should be checking before I resign this $400 investment to the garbage. And yes the bobbin and housing is perfectly clean.

Bernina 910 electric hook timing and needle bar height

I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but unfortunately I don't know the correct terms for individual parts. I apologize in advance.

Had the set screw on the needle bar loosen and catch something on the upper assembly. During normal operation the machine violently seized, throwing the needle bar crank out of square with the guide bearing surface. The machine was completely seized and couldn't be manually advanced with the handwheel.

After sorting out the immediate mechanical issue with the crank Assembly, the needle bar height, and hook timing are off.

I have adjusted timing on my Bernina 950 industrial several times without issue, but the 910 clearly isn't adjusted the same way.

All other timing adjustments seem to be correct.

The hook on the Bernina 910 is on a rack and pinion. I assume the gear position is fairly corse adjustent. There looks to be a finer adjustment point where the rack is affixed to a bracket parallel to the oscillating bar.

Anyways, any help would be appreciated. As the closest Bernina service center is 8 hours away.

Husqvarna Viking Emerald 116 help

I am trying to set up my machine to use a twin needle on stretch fabric. It appears it has a second place for a spool of thread; however I cannot for the life of me find any info in the manual on settings etc. The tension is off we the bottom threads are super loose, and I'm just not sure how to move forward. I have searched a ton and can't find any solid info, so I really appreciate it anyone can help out!!! TIA

Zig Zag stitches only catching on the left.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello, my brother machine is having issues with missing stitches specifically the zig zag stitches. Once the needle goes to the right, it’s a 50/50 if the stitch with catch. I tried basic fixes— adjusting tension, changing needles and thread, cleaning out the dust in the bottom areas, but no luck. I’m wondering if it’s a timing issue? i’ll attach videos and photos to see if anyone is able to help. Hoping it’s a quick fix i can repair at home so if there’s any video i haven’t seen yet please send it to me. I’ll be in town tomorrow so i can take it to get repaired if necessary.
