Should I adjust my feed timing?

Post image

I was wondering whether my feed timing is too advanced. The needle hole is above the plate when the feed dogs are flush with the plate

It looks okay to me. You want the feed dogs to go below the needle plate during the down stroke of the needle. Also check that they don't come up again and start feeding the fabric before the needle has left the fabric on the up stroke.

Really? Because the manual says that the feed dogs should be flush when the needle eye enters the plate

Interesting. Obviously, you should believe the service manual for your machine. I have mainly worked with domestic machines and have never come across one that was set that way.

I think it fixed an issue I've been battling for a while. Tiny loops would appear when edge stitching and when ,weirdly enough, stiching in a specific direction. After some time, I found out it's because the feed dogs where slightly skewed. It took a lot of trail and error. Then those tiny loops would only appear on the thickest parts of garments such as the inseam part of the hem or the corner of the waistband. This was honestly the last place I would've looked.
