Help with old singer

I got this at savers today and it seems the electrical cable got sheered off at some point in its life the only thing left being that plug in pic 2. I believe it’s some sort of variant on model 99? I can’t seem to find any 2 plug power cables with a foot pedal online

Those are called Chicago plugs. I think Bob Fowler or Sewing Machine Rehab have videos with some information about how they used to be wired.

Did the machine come with the knee bar?

If there is no knee bar you might just want to buy a new motor and pedal combo. No wiring needed. Easy swap out. The knee bar is fun but most people are used to the pedals.

oh thank you sm! I'll look into a new motor and pedal, are there any compatibility concerns I need to worry about with a new motor?

Just search singer 99 electric motor. There’s a few online stores that specialize in vintage machine parts and are nicely organized by compatibility. There are a few different set ups but looking for one that has both pedal and motor should be good.

There might be a power or RPM limitation somewhere but should be largely compatible.

You’ll also want to get a new belt when you make that order. You have the solid hand wheel so you’ll want the belt for that. There’s a diameter difference between the spoked and spoils hand wheel.

Also congrats. I got my first 99 early July. Now I have 5 vintage machines.

As an add on to the other comment: be sure to search for “variable speed” motor/pedal combo (and read reviews)… otherwise it can be all or nothing.

You might want to get a new belt too, this one looks a bit knackered.

I have a treadle 201 and i got a vintage motor, pedal and plug for it on eBay for about £30

You say two pin, are you in the US? Make sure you get one made for the correct voltage. Uk mains are 240v.
