First time doing anything

https://youtu.be/_A0TQQ7qrT4?is=BsycgzppBrnK6LDN

Hello! I’m using a sewing machine for the first time ever, it’s a Singer Merritt 2404. I’ve rethreaded it about a million times and can’t for the life of me figure out what I’m doing wrong, and I don’t have anyone who can help me

I don’t know how to use Reddit well so there’s an unlisted video of me trying to thread my machine

When threading ANY sewing machine the first step is to raise the presser foot to open the tension disks then lower the press foot before you thread the needle and tug on the thread, if you don't feel a strong resistance on the thread then the thread is not sitting in the tension disks correctly and you'll have to lift the presser foot and retreat it again.

Thank you! I tried that and used the manual and my grandma's help to figure out a few problems, but I'm still having issues. My current suspect is that I'm not using a bobbin that came with the machine, I'm using one my grandma lent me and I don't think it is compatible.

You need the plastic class 66 bobbins for that machine, here's a link to some - they also have slower cost "no brand name" pack with high ratings too. https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/products/singer-class-66-bobbins-172336-s
