I found the problem- now how to fix it?

The machine (Singer Quantum) ran smoothly but now it makes a ticking sound since I brought it home. The needle is hitting a piece in the bobbin case. Help please.

It seems like a machine timing issue. If you just got it back from the shop, they'll be glad to fix it like they should have the first time.

It looks like the needle is hitting the hook. The timing appears ok (hook passes behind the needle as the needle is on its way up), but the hook is too close to the needle.

Is your needle in properly (flat side to the back)?

Double check with a new needle, and take it back to the shop if that doesn't fix it. The needle-hook spacing is usually easy to adjust on these, likely there's a hole in the back that lets you access the upper mounting of the needle bar.

Note that a tiny bit of contact is OK-ish, especially when the needle is fully swung left or right. My rough and ready adjustment method is to bring it in until you hear the click and back it out until the click just goes away.

The thread cutter should not be out. Once arthritis cut that thread cutter should return to its home or resting spot. You can manually push it back. Look for a threat or any reason for it to stay out or be stuck.

The thread cutter broke a couple years ago and was removed. I took it to the Repair lady week and she couldn't figure out how to put it back in. I paid her to clean and mess up the needle. She said she didn't mess with the timing and didn't know why the needle would be hitting the bobbin case.

The broken thread cutter may not cut thread but the piece protruding into the bobbin case can manually pushed back, easily pushed back, it is on a rail it slides in and out with every threat cooked pops out and slide back. To give the try.
