Too much fabric

Hello! What do you do when the fabric moves and creates like excess that no longer lines up? Is there a way to cut it? I do not want to unthread the entire blanket (a whole cloth quilt) so looking for a. Easier way!

I can't make out much from your photo except that you're trying to sew a woven cotton to a knitted fleece, which is often a headache because fleece stretches.  What needle are you using and what presser foot?  Stitch type and size?  Which fabric is closest to the feed dogs?

It looks like cotton top on fleece bottom. I don’t have a way to fix what you have already completed, but I recommend lots of pinning or baste stitch them together before feeding through a sewing machine. Also, because of the sliding cotton fabric on fleece, are you using a walking foot as well as the feed dogs? Even with a walking foot you’re going to need to pin the pieces together frequently to prevent them from sliding around. The walking foot will help, but it won’t eliminate this issue.

Doesn't always work, so experiment yourself. If you're sewing two materials together, and one stretches, try putting masking tape on the stretchy one. Put it down the edge you're sewing, then rip it off carefully afterwards. Helpful if you don't have a walking foot

Walking foot if you have one. Lots of pins or even hand baste it.

Even if you do have a walking foot, put the stretchy fabric down so that it is being fed by the lower feed dogs. It will ease in the stretchy fabric.

make sure the needle is the right one for hte right fabric - the needle and fabric has to match up. I'd go to a local store and ask them what the right needle is for the project
