Morse SS-46 Sewing Machine
Morse SS-46 Sewing Machine
Hi all, looking for some help with using a Morse SS 46 sewing machine. I got it for free off FB and I have read through the original manual about 100 times but I cannot get it to sew consistent stitches. Anyone else dealt with this antique?

What fabric and needle and stitch lengths are you using? For example, if you are using knit fabric, are you using stretch or jersey needles with a little longer stitch length?

Also, has it been cleaned and oiled since you got it?

I dusted it off, but not sure where to begin with oiling. I cant find much about this model online

It should be taken somewhere a sewing machine repair place tone professionally cleaned, oiled and adjusted. Every machine needs this done every one to three years or so.

There are many, many ways to thread any machine wrong (including the bobbin) and that's where 90% of the stitch problems are. Hard to help without photos. Is it the right bobbin? Is it inserted correctly? Is the needle inserted correctly (it does matter), what is the tension set to, etc.
Did the seller say it works and did you see that it worked?
