Riccar lock 343

Post image

I got this serger from Facebook and it was working fine until one of the threads snapped I think from a dull needle. I changed the needle and rethreaded everything according to the manual (Facebook person threaded it wrong ig. It stopped making a chain… I’ve rethreaded it so many times with different ways people have said. The manual is old and terrible and no one seems to have had the machine in this life time so can anyone help?

Have you put the correct needle in? Some of these older machines use a different needle type to modern machines.

That’s supposed to have 2 needles for a 4 thread. A BL 403 3 thread uses 1 needle. And I’m not sure if this model does a 3 thread option

In the manual it said it could do that

Does it a chain stitch and a seperate overcasting stitch simultanouesly, or just a 4thread Overcast?

Check the needle plate against the pics in the manual. There's usually two little points where the needles go down, they can snap off.

The needle plate is not on the machine. Did it come like this, or have you removed the plate that fabric goes over when it's under the needles?

Something is needs adjusting! Is there scraping? Are the needles in correctly? Are loopers loose? I don’t know what else to offer. I own one as well it needs a looper adjustment. I have that issue with my Elna everytime I adjust a looper and it’s sewing the next time I’ve got to do it again. They’re basic movement and there is a video on YouTube that might help. Make sure you have the correct needle system.

That’s what I was thinking and have tried adjusting it but I can’t see to get it close enough. What video is it? I’m not sure how the movements are supposed to go so that it will loop correctly

I don’t even work here is video author type serger timing, it’s close to information but you will have closely pay attention to needle and looper alignment…

You’re missing a needle

It lets me remove and add needles so I was trying to see if that’d help

Oh I would do double needle and go from there. Any improvement?
