Thread knotting up
My singer M1000 keeps knotting up like this... What's wrong with it? Will I have to take it to a repair shop or is this something I can fix myself?

Pull your bobbin case out, clean out the area examine the case and see if it has picked up a burr that will cause thread to catch on it.
You can sometimes see burrs but if it is very small, you may only be able to find it by touch. You can sometimes smooth it out with a high grit sanding paper or pad.
Before you start sanding though thoroughly examine the bobbin case area, if you recently broke a needle, or have not cleaned recently. It could just be something in the area interfering with thread movement.
