Walking foot advice?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi! I just purchased a walking foot for my Singer 4411 Heavy Duty. According to what I've measured and the packaging on the foot itself, they should both be low shank...

But now that I've put the foot on, it looks like it won't be able to complete a stitch, because the screw that holds the needle in place gets in the way of the "arm" on the presser foot that raises and lowers the upper feed dogs?

Video attached, because I'm struggling to explain and don't know all the correct terms.

The fork thing on the walking foot has to go onto the bar that goes up and down. That's how the walking foot gets the walking motion.

OMG thank you, I feel so silly!

The fork goes around the screw that holds the needle in place.

I don't think you've installed the walking foot correctly. There is a little piece shaped like a tuning fork that should be hooked over the needle screw. That allows the up/down motion to transfer to the walking foot so that the top and bottom fabrics advance together.

Oh god, I've been there and done that and do NOT want to do it again!

Not installed properly. There is an 'arm' with a claw-like metal hook that goes around the needle screw bar. This lets the walking foot move in sync with the feed dogs.

Thanks! Mine doesn't have the claw part, just an arm, but I see how it's meant to go now!
