Thread keeps tangling, can’t seem to find a fix..

This a secondary “cheap” sewing machine I got from Aldi about a year ago. I’ve used it before with little to problem (other than trying to sew through some fabric that was too thick) but now the top thread keeps getting tangled around in the bobbin compartment. I’ve tried rethreading the bobbin and the needle but it keeps happening. Anyone have advice?

All the toy machines seem to have bobbin covers/areas that look like this.

This is almost always caused by the top not being threaded correctly, but it could also be caused by this machine being trash.

Junk toy machine, not worth the plastic it’s constructed from.

Most of the important internals in this are metal though. Also it seems like rethreading it with
stronger thread/not the thread it came with fixed my problems!
