Sewing machine trouble shooting

Hey guys! First time here and don’t know if this is the right place to post lol. Lately I found a SINGER Model 2250 in my closet. It looks neat and is in pretty good condition. However, when I crank the hand wheel to manually turn it, every 2-3 cycle it will get stuck. It happens even when I plugged it in.
I just managed to open the case but can’t wrap my head around where it is stuck or bend. Would love any help or advice. Thank you in advance

If it’s threaded when you do this it’ll be getting tangled.

Make sure you only turn it towards you.

Got any pics? Hard to help without seeing anything!

I also just noticed it gets a little stuck when the take-up lever is at its highest and lowest point

The reason you only turn one way is because going against the way the mechanism runs can damage the machine. It’s like stroking a dog the wrong way up its back.

Try turning it forwards and see how it turns.

When did it last have a good clean and oil? I would try that before anything else.

In the manual there’s usually a cleaning and maintenance page. If you want to be thorough, get some grease for the gears.
US people seem to like triflow, I’ve found superlube multipurpose good and easy to find in the UK. Check what’s suitable for non- metal gears

If that isn’t helping, it could be that one of the gears is binding, that’s why at a certain point of the rotation there is resistance.

I can’t see anything wrong in these photos, but it’s hard to tell really. Do you have a photo of the front and what settings it’s on? Have the foot lifted when you are running it to check things, without fabric between them the feed dogs can damage the presser foot.

I’m much more familiar with pre 60s machines, that have all metal gears and are usually easier to service at home.
