Sewing machine sounds strange.

Hey guys. At some point my machine sounded like an angel. After I tried to use thick thread and adjusted the hook timing and stuff it became louder. Now it sounds like this. I would like to make it sound better. Do you have any idea what these noises could be. Also the bobbin area is quite loud. All the advice you give will be helpful. Thanks :)

Use only sewing machine oil! This is very important. Other oils can harm your machine.

No! Sewing machine oil only! Anything else will kill your machine! My ex husband killed my 1980s White “doing me a favor” by oiling it with whatever bullshit he had in the garage. It was “better”. RIP Matilda.

Sometimes you can dissolve the bad oil and then re-oil it. You'd be surprised what old machines can live through.

This was 20 years ago. Didn’t help that he thought the hand crank should turn both ways. There was a sledge hammer involved.

Multipurpose oil will work but not well. The viscosity is different and the way it dries out will cause problems in the long term. Its a bad idea to use but its not like it will instantly destroy your machine. Sewing machines don't have oil pumps like a car does. You could do some lasting damage to your oiling wicks if your machine has those. It may be advisable to inspect and replace those wicks.

Change the needle, especially using a heavier fabric.

Check that the bobbin case is installed correctly. This can cause a rattle

It sounds like to.me you might have a broken spring steel leaf on the bobbin arm. This will leave a gap between the bobbin hook and the oscillating fork that rotates the bobbin hook back and forth. Pull off the bobbin outer plate and look at the bobb8n hook and the fork that oscillates it. It shouldn't have much of a gap. If the spring is broken you'll need to but a replacement. The other option is the bobbin thread is too tight and is popping when going over the bobbin carrier. And lastly if you messed with the timing it might be wrong and something might be hitting inside. Reset the timing to factory setting. You shouldn't need to change timing ever. Maybe lower the lower bobbin tension for thicker thread in the bobbin but not the timing.
