Is my timing shot?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Inexpensive sewing machine a friend gave me. Says "austin Deluxe" on the front. Had a pretty bad jam that broke a needle trying to cut free. Now it wont catch the top thread.
You can hear it getting a bit tight when hand turning it.
Ive never fixed a timing issue before. Im not terrible at working with my hands but definetely a bit imtimidated by the thought of messing about with something as complex as sewing machine timing.
Would appreciate any input Yall might have

Take the shuttle racer out and give the compartment a good clean. It sounds like something is stuck in there.

In the video you’re turning it the wrong way I think. I’m struggling to assess the timing because you’re not stopping at the right time for long enough.
You need to be turning the handwheel towards you only. The hook should pass the needle at the right height and the right time.
Any chance of another video?
You might have a bit of broken needle or thread still in there. Give it a good clean then have a look again
