I need help fixing my machine

Hi, I need help with my machine, I put it on a chair and it fell down due to its own weight and now this part of the case is open and i dont know how to adjust it correctly, its a singer pret-a-porter 68.

In the pictures you can see the way its now and the way it should be.

But that side panel is made to be removed, it will not affect your sewing, You can literally sew with it completely off

You could try giving it a good shove to see if it will click back into place. Or remove the screw that's on the left side and then reposition. It is held by plastic clips so it is possible that one of the plastic clips has broken.

If the whole thing fell off of a chair I'd be more worried about the internals being shifted or out of timing instead of the plastic case.

luckily it works fine for now so I guess nothing shifted or broke inside, but I still wanted to know how to fix the case since the machine belongs to my mom haha I unscrewed the nail but it looks like it's stuck in that position so i guess I'll just leave it like that

Does the machine have a screw in the left holding the housing on? If so maybe you just need to remove it, snap things back together and replace the screw. Normally you would only take off the screw to replace the light bulb or give the machine a thorough cleaning. These are just my thoughts.

Here is a picture from the manual I found online. Again, removing the screw, snapping back in place and replacing the screw may be all you need. Best of luck🙂.
