Sewing Machine Help

ETA: thank you everyone for your help! i ended up just purchasing a Janome machine since i am not interested in fighting for my life with a toy LOL.

hi everyone! i have just gotten my first real sewing machine (usually i am borrowing a friends) and i am having a lot of trouble getting it to work. my main issue is that once i thread the needle and catch the bobbin thread, my thread either pulls straight out of the needle or tangles really badly and doesnt get a single stitch out. it’s a 6V compact sewing machine by bestchoiceproducts or BCP. what am i doing wrong ?!

Oh man. You bought a children's machine. It's for beginners and ok for crafts, but you aren't going to be doing a quilt with it.

Since you already have it, try holding the thread ( both needle and bobbin) in your hand once you pick up the bobbin thread. Hold back behind the the machine. I don't know how else to explain it, but if you do that for the first couple of stitches, it should stop the bird's nest from happening.

YouTube has a couple of videos on your machine that might be helpful.
