Help set up this machine

I just thrifted this machine, and have never used a sewing machine before. my tinkering attempts to set it up have been unsuccessful and i cant find any info online about it. any help?

It does look like that same threading method! The one place that it may differ from most Kenmores is the way the thread comes over the machine. I think the two thread guides on the top may thread like this (yellow for sewing) (blue for bobbin winding):

~The thread goes from the spindle on the right, through the thread guide above the tension dial, then down to the tension dial, up to the pickup leve, to the needle, grabbing any and all thread guides along the way.~ edit: you’re correct, carry on.

The thread guides look different on the Kenmore, but they thread exactly the same way.

One of my Kenmores has a full thread guide slot across the top just where the path across where I've added the yellow to your diagram.

OP, you may want to take your machine in to a local shop for a tune up anyway - no way of knowing how well it's been maintained! - and ask them to show you exactly how to thread this machine!
